As you can doubt many Goa people think your group is a reference in this music domain :-) Yes probably because we started in the early 90's, on the first goa-labels, and in 7 years we composed or coproduced about 80 tracks, that gave us more chance to reach the dancers 2) Ok, so let's start the interview : First of all, how would you describe Goa music in few words ? Powerfull sonic vibrations for alignment of mind , body and soul energies, the third millenium cyber ritual music. 3) Is Goa your favourite music style ? No, our global taste changes all the time, we have no ultimate favourite style, just relative favourite artists or tracks, but it has been a great fun to be part of this goa scene when it started to define itself as a style because it was a new field of creation with infinite possibilities everything to get inspiration and nobody to make us feel like followers. On the other hand it's definitely our favourite style of Dance music... 4) How and when did you start to make Goa ? We started making parties in 1989 with Trance Body Express in Paris, there was Serge, Steph and i met them between 90 and 91. In 92 we decided to start producing music, Steph was already a founder of Juno Reactor, and we all had experience as musicians, we released our first single in 93 with Dragonfly. 5) Are you currently preparing a new album ? When do you project to release it ? We found out there was something wrong about GoaTrance albums, by the time a record company can release it, everybody knows the tracks from parties or tapes and only the real fans will buy it. So we intend to put all new stuff as quick as possible on compilations, sometimes we have to take another name like The Antidote, or Alexipharmic for some Serge solo compositions. So what we put on the last album was the result of 2 years of work but putting all trance tracks aside, it doesn t mean we stopped to make any... We also plan a real revival of our old tracks on a "best of" album (that s a scoop!, if anybody feels concerned), it should come after the summer. 6) Your favourite Total Eclipse Track ? Stef: Aliens Serge: A Little Bit Of Heaven Loic: Psychedelic Terrorist 7) Your favourite Goa Group, Album, Top 5 Goa Tracks ? Once again we dont put anybody over everybody, we love the masters from the early years, Juno Reactor, TIP, Hallucinogen... but many people from the new generation are doing good (Deviant Electronic, Infected Mushroom, Tristan...) We unconsciously recycle all of our influenced that are too many to list... we must say a lot is also coming from the machine itself : playing around with a sound or a loop you start to hear some stuff organizing itself inside you and then try to get it out of the other machines in the studio, as none of them will give you straight away the sound you want you start to experiment something else and it drives you to another space. We also always lived in places with many birds (i think they get attracted by some analog sounds) so we are use to go to bed after a night in the studio and fall asleep with them singing crazy tunes mixing in the track still running in our heads. Somehow we might recycle some of that as well ... 9) Future projects ? A lot of TOTAL ECLIPSE trance and downtempo tracks are going to be released by TIP, ATOMIC, TSUNAMI and SPIRIT ZONE, then we have the second volume of Melatonic Music, the nighttime prescription, from dark ambient breakbeats to drum'n'bass, i don't know when it will be ready... 10)Thanks a lot from all the Goa people community, and ... give us more great stuff as soon as you can ;-) You can have more infos about them at http://www.total-eclipse.com !
