Guest E
Hello fellow psy-nuts, I have technics and a numark mixer and I want to add 1 or 2 CD players to my set up. Does anyone have any suggestions on good CD players? Also do any of you mix these medias? Is it smooth or do the CD's sound lounder and clearer? Help me brothers. Guest Adz Om
i mix vinyl and have found when mixing in a cd, the cd sounds much thinner and yes louder so i guess its a matter of fine eqing. i dont have cd turntables as of yet but when i do theyll be cdj100s
Tatsu
i have bought two cdjs 100 from pioneer some time ago and i'm very satisfied with them. as much as i have heard everybody is saying that pioneer has the best cdjs. and yes, they sound definitely louder than the vinyl decks, so if i mix cds with vinyls i have to turn down the volume of the cd channel at the mixer. Guest Kwark
i also bought two cdjs 100 one year ago and i've got to say that they definitely are the best one you can find at present. And i've got some friends of mine who have mixed for many years and they use cdjs 100 too. Don't hesitate, you won't be disappointed, believe me. The cdjs 500 are bigger than the 100 though they have the same functions as the cdjs 100 (except the effects(jet, zip, wah) which are only in the cdjs 100). And the paradox is that they are far more expensive than the cdjs 100 !!! (hope i've been clear ... :-))
Järsimähäiriö
You're none too clear at all. CDJ-500s IS NOT bigger than CD-100, in fact it's smaller. Plus, both CDJ-500s and CDJ-500II are better players than CDJ-100, so there's nothing odd with the pricing... 500-series has all kinds of looping functions, which are nice and even essential if you are used to using them, plus they are better built/sturdier than the CDJ-100. True, they don't have those "wacky" effects but then again, they are not that great to use anyway (You'll be better off getting a separate effects-unit, or even a mixer with built-in effects). All in all, Pioneer makes some nice good quality cdjs. The bad thing is they cost a lot considering what they have to offer, I mean you get more bang for a buck with other brands (although I'm sure someone will argue that you get what you pay for... I don't think Pioneers are THAT much better than anything else on the market). I for one have two table-top players by American DJ, and I'd take them any day over the Pioneer CDJ-100... but this is of course a question of preferences and personal feelings. I'd say try as many players as you can and pick the one you like the most. Simple!

Guest kingdok
CDJ 1000s kick ass if you're used to 1200s, and I highly recommend them if you've got the $$$, but I have a sneaking suspicion that *ALL* this tech will be ludicrously outdated in five years. "What? You're not an mp3j? Get out of here!" Oh, and CDs sound fine mixed with vinyl -- like Tatsu said, just watch those levels!
Guest Lair
pioneer cdj100's are really good, however the 1000's are pretty sweet, have all kinds of bells and whistles but as a personal preference I wouldn't use half the bells and whistles anyways. as far as I have seen the 100's are the standard in this part of the world. as far as mixing cd's and records goes I find that the cd's are a crisper sound.....being digital and all. Alot of my record playing friends are usally amazed at how little I pitch my tracks up and down. CD's you don't have to pitch up and down to the extremes. Well anyways that was my 2 cents on the CD player thread lair
