Q: When did you start making psytrance ?

A: I started to make music about 18 years ago, and I started my trance project about -95. This has not alwyas been trance, it started as ambient and somewhere along the line it slowly grew into trance...

Q: Which of your own tracks do you like the best (12 Moons and Healer) ?

A: I haven´t got a personal favorite in that manner of speaking, there is a story behind all my tracks, so there is different feelings and thoughts behind them all and I can´t really say which one I like best. But some of the stories are really good, and the tracks related to them are good, tracks like: Beyond Infinity, Zero Gravity, I Can Eat Monster Too (Tinnitus) and the whole Healer album.

Q: Your favourite psychedelic Groups & Albums ?

A: I really don´t listen to much to music in this genre, I mean ofcourse I listen to trance but I don´t really get into the psytrance. there is just a few tracks and albums that I really like, as the TIP - Phosphoresence comp, that´s REALLY good! And then there is X-Dream´s Radio album, that´s a great album, nice production and very good harmonies in the mix with hardbeating drums and percussions. just a perfect mix... But I like the more dark trance stuff, like the Delta Scizoeffective album (yet again X-Dream guys)... And there are so many talented people out there so it´s really hard to point out a few single ones, but the 3 albums I mentioned are the ones that I think makes a real difference...

Q: Where does your inspiration come from ?

A: My inspiration... hhmmm.... that´s a tricky one. I have alot of influence coming from different aspects, one of them being when I go to parties and come home, I´m always filled with great ideas and filled with an enormous lust for making a good track, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn´t... Another source of inspiration is based upon a more personal level, where I am influenced from things that happen directly to me. Things like places I visit, people I meet and things I see or hear...

Q: How do You build up a track ?

A: It´s always different, there is no way of building a track from A to B, it´s always different. Like when I made Ohmpfh, I started with the first low kick and the bass, then came the strange, detuned percussions and then the track grew from there... Beyond Infinity started out as an ambient track, and I used an old ambient track as a foundation to build this new track. In fact, there is a melodie in the intro of Beyond Infinity which I made a long time ago... (15 years ago I made this ambient track , it was not really great, but for some reason, that single melodie stuck inside my head, and it came out when I was doing the Beyond Infinity track, and it works just perfect in there). So, I don´t really have a straight line of building up a track, sometimes it starts with a few pads and harmonies, and somtimes it starts out with kick and bass, or just some percussions, sometimes there is something else...

Q: What kind of equipment do you use to make your Tracks ?

A: At the moment I have only a few synths (Roland JV80, JV880, Clavia Nordrack2, Yamaha YS200, Yamaha TG33, MAM MB33), I also use Akai S1000 sampler, but this is soon going to be changed to a K2000 from Kurzweil... The effect-processors I use at the moment (Zoom 1201 (two of them) for reverbs, Zoom 9001 (also two of them) for delay´s and a Virtualizer from Behringer. I work with a G3 Macintosh (the old grey one) running Cubase VST 4.1 and Peak 2.10. I use 32-channel Soundcraft Ghost mixerdesk, which is a very good mixer for doing both trance and ambient, very warm and rich in dynamics. As monitors I use the Absolute 2 from Spirit.

Q: Future projects, new tracks, probably an album from 12 Moons ?

A: Actually my future plans are a little bit secret at the moment, but I can say that an album is planned and coming sometime this year. Part from that, there is a few new singles coming soon, and maybe, just maybe, an ambient track or two. ;-) And some more liveacts are coming up this year as well...

The 12moons singles on schedule right now are these:

Blind Mans Vision / Northern Star - Dragonfly Records (Spring 2001)

the Voyage / the Circle Movement - Transient Records (Spring 2001)

Hunting Demons / Igg & Okk - Digital Structures (April 2001)

Other 12moons tracks coming soon:

Funky Chunky - Hadshot compilation (spring 2001)

Elak Jävel - Krembo compilation (2001)

Healer tracks coming up:

Aqua Sleeping - MPDQX compilation (spring 2001)

Q: Is there any artist you'd like to work with ?

A: Well, it would be cool to work with some other artists but right now there is little time for colabs, so maybe in the future... I spoke to Atmos about doing an ambient track together, and he thought it was a cool idea too. Since we live neighbours this may happen real soon and the track will probably submerge later this year... And I would really enjoy working with Magnus Lindberg (http://medium.to) , who is the man behind the acts Yeadeau, Serilou and Tienares. This guy is one of my closest friends and he makes hard, nasty trance as well as flowing ambient, so it would be good fun making a track with him. Magnus is currently releasing a trance-single on the label Fleebite, check it out... ;-)

Q: How much time do You spend in Your studio and does it give something special mentally ??

A: Since I have my studio in my flat I try to be in my studio most of the day. But sometimes I spend a week or two in the studio, don´t go outside, hardly eat or sleep, and then sometimes I don´t work for one week at all. It varies from time to time... As far as the mental aspect is concerned, being in my studio is a release for my excursions in the direction of sound that I am in constant persue of... So, yes, this is why I make music, if it wasn´t for the emotional feedback it brings me, I wouldn´t do this... But luckily for both you and me, I enjoy what I do... (most of the time anyway, sometimes it can be hard to handle a situation when sad things happens. Just recently my beloved grandmother very suddenly passed away, and the outcome of that tragic incident was the track "the Voyage". That track is dedicated to her and that´s one of the many stories behind my music)... So, mentally things can be real hard as well as pure joy.
