Astrix is Avi Shmailov (born 1981) from Israel.

He started making trance music as a teenager.

He then changed direction and was newly discovered

when he collaborated with Alien Project

on his debut album - Midnight Sun, released in 2001.

Since then he released quite a few tracks

with Alien Project, Atomic Pulse, Nomad, Xerox, Domestic

and on his own. He produced some major hits

and remixes that swept the trance skies like a comet.

Astrix has already played and performed live in

Japan, UK, Switzerland, Greece, Brazil, India, Mexico.

He's due to release his debut album – “Eye to eye”

in September/October 2002 on HOMmega Productions.

Well, as i feel that it is Astrix the one that invented the Israeli-G.M.S sound (together with Alien Project) and as this is his debut album. I would have to say that you will find some of those symptoms in the album BUT you will also find a new innovative Astrix style + some more surprises (the album features TEN (10) tracks)!

well the truth is Alien Project's style is actually Astrix's style,

as he is responible to most of his trax in the 1st album as well as to some in his other two,and most people know that by now.

since that period a lot of time has passed and astrix's music and sound production has become much better.

other surprises can be a remix or stuff like that for sure.

having heard his latest stuff i can say it's great and superior to his already washed-out hits

Astrix style is more uplifting than AP's ... so it's deffinately not the same.

and it's MUCH more inteligent than the ripp off, aimed to be comercial music of Psydrop ...

(just my opinion)

Like Eyal says ... Astrix was with the first to create this sound, only sorry for him he's the last to really release an album with the sound ...

he's the one that really deserves the respect for the latest innovation in the Israelian psy-music.
