Guest implant
Well I showed up in the Fortress at about 2 AM....Goa Gil was already deep in his set.....And I was not that impressed with what he had to offer...I mean that wasn't in any way a bad set...it's just that I was somehow bored;((...(That wasn't the case when Erez played here some time ago) I would describe the stuff the he plays as "GMS like"...but not all the stuff were like that.....anyway I was dead tired so I was sitting on the fence whole evening.........and at about 4:30 Ileft..... anyway he is very authentic character....and I would recomend to everyone to go his parties...cause after all it wasn't in any way a bad party.......(except all those SHIT people that were around me. Who's from Belgrade he'll understand)
Guest Jonathan
"I would describe the stuff the he plays as "GMS like" yes I kinda felt the same way when I saw him. Old music, bad mixes. What's the big deal about this guy?
Guest gandu
nothing...just that without him, none of us would be here?...maybe? i'll be first to admit that he CAN'T mix for shit...but the few times that i did get a chance to hear him...his track selection was flawless!!!...and until i get another chance to hear him in the near future and find out for myself how bad he is, i'll consider him the best dj iv come across. Guest Laaars
Uh Goa Gil hated the electronic music in the 80s, he was a rock dude. He only jumped the trance bandwagon later while others, like Ray Castle for instance founded the electronic goa scene.
Guest --==1400MiLeS==--
Lots of us hates electronic music in the '80s and were rock dudes...It takes a man to change ... Gil is an institute...he's doing his thing and although its not exactly what I consider the ultimate in psy...its still decent and authentic...Same cannot be said of Oakenfold and loatsa others that replaced Goa with more 'viable' music... Guest Alek
i totally agree with you implant. his set was ok, but not as good as it could have been. he changed the style a bit at sunrise, but the cops broke up the party way too early, around 6:00 . and i get what you're saying about the people that come to the parties in belgrade... they know nothing about the music thats beeing played. sadly, that can be said for 80% of the people that were there. but as long as they dont bother me, im ok. Guest Entare
Too bad I wasn't there to see Gil myself, I had to fly to Canada on Monday. Maybe his set was not that good enough but still I would like to see the man who was one of the first in this scene. Say Alek the cops busted this party too, that really blows, I hate that and even when I was at Ibiza on Synaesthezia party some weeks ago cops came and made us leave, I was so angry and all of us went to ex-Kolos on Jorg H. But later I found out that organisers were those who called the police just so they could finish the party earlier. I hope that this is not the case with Gil's party. And yes the crowd on psy parties is becoming more and more how to say "zeldi" with sunglasses on in the middle of the night. They just come to do some drugs and that is it. Anyway to bad I wasn't there to hear the goa guru. bOOm!!
Guest mike hock
he always has great killer sets, full-on at the most! and he plays 24hrs set, with a couple drops, it would be the best psyparty you could ever have.
Guest Alek
this party was hardly a full on killer, it was more GMS like as implant said. you're right about the "zeldi"s.. hehe . they're all doped up on E, jumping around, wearing their golden chains... but it was nice to see the man in person knowing that hes done everything hes done. Guest Dr. Cheroot
"zeldi" in yugoslavia = "arsim" in israel = "candy ravers" in the US ??
Guest r2d2
Ha ha ha do they still tack their leather jackects in jeans or wear all kinds of flashy sports sweat suits? They sure are a sight to see:)
Guest Clone
Goa Gil didn't play GMS style tracks!!! Just a bit of full on stuff, mostly Parvati like stuff, a bit of Skazi, euro-style...But Goa Gill is a guru, so much positive energy around him, that's why I like him. And yes, the people at Yugoslavian parties are the worst you can meet, not at a party, but in your life.
Guest Mike D
I must admit that the cd mixes I own of Goa Gill are not the best, never seen him dj live though. I think the big deal is that ehre we have a man who was, or one of, the very first to organise/run and promote psy parties and also the music. I agree without Goa Gil and his cronies, inlcuding Raja Ram, we would not be here ont his forum discussing this liovely style of music. The thing is to think of Goa Gil as the madman who helped start this scene, not as a great dj, which he is not.
Guest Jonathan
typical Goa GIl set: GMS Astrix Psyside Alien Project Talamsca Good the Bad and the Ugly Absolum California Sunshine MFG Etnica Astral and then Skazi, Skazi and some more Skazi. Like this for 24 hours straight. I don't have a problem with full-on.I just cant hear it all freaking night and all morning. I saw Dimitri spinning last week and he rocked the floor for like 6 hours he played some insane stuff from the new drug infested Tip compliation (1200 mics). But in the morning he chilled down a little a put some smooth scando stuff. Not everyone does 10 hits of E and can put up with 150 BPM tempo all night. How bout slowing it down a little bit pops? Guest mike hock
its a big mistake to drop E in psytrance parties IMO, especially in Goa Gil's, unless you have it to go with other psy ones... and for LSD, Goa Gil's sets are never too hard and too long for me, u feel me dawg? for people havent or have been to his party this year, there will be his birthday one on 10-5 http://www.goagil.com/images2/flyers/GilBi...ay2002Front.jpg cum!
