I didn't really find your post offensive, silly, yes, and certainly out-of-character. Whenever one criticises the musical output of an entire country they have to expect a backlash. Good music is good music as far as I'm concerned, regardless of origin.

Anyway, enough about that. Regarding the much-discussed 'forest sound' - I still don't know what it is. Perhaps when your Fairytale album arrives you can point out what sounds on it are foresty as I'm quite interested to find out.  :)

Whatever, Charlie. I'm not dissing all the music from England, just the majority of the trance I've heard, compared to the stuff from Scandinavia. I like a lot of British music. You clearly took offense to one or two of my statements and disregarded the nature of the meaning in general. Understandable, but also "silly".

Clearly some people hear the forest thing and some don't. To say it doesn't exist is erroneous. For some reason it's a phenomenon, and I tried to give my own possible explanation. If it doesn't exist for you doesn't mean it logically follows that it doesn't exist for anybody.

Judging from your comments, I highly doubt I'd be able to "explain" it to you, even with the album in my possession. It's a feeling. I wouldn't, for instance, necessarily be able to recreate it myself, but perhaps if I grew up in Sweden it might possibly have found its way into my music. I really don't know how else to describe it. But I will say that I firmly believe that music sounds different from culture to culture.

Come on, man, you're taking it the wrong way, believe me.

'Silly' is hardly the worst thing to be called but I apologise if it upset you.

Olive branch my ass. Being called silly is not peacemaking.

It's a large part of their folklore, and you see a lot of it in Norse-based legends, and stories based on those legends like Lord of the Rings, for instance. It's in their blood and their daily life. You can't grow up in Scandinavia without learning the mythology, and kids' books are full of trolls and elves and gnomes and stuff. Even Christmas is more foresty than I've seen elsewhere. Their Santa is a forest Santa. True, I didn't grow up in Scandinavia, but I grew up with the culture in my home, and have visited many times, and have walked into the forests and felt their magic.

Well, if you give everything only a try for 5 minutes... I imagine what your life looks like....

Heard it again. I can see why people will like it. I don't like it cause it doesn't has the type of progression that i am used to. It's too Goa in that sense. If it had a more logical progression it could be really good.

In my opinion ok?

Better than all the Schlabaduerst stuff i heard before. That's for sure.

Were listening. I stopped listening to Goa when Cryptic Crunch was released. That was the point of no return for me. And also KoxBox's The Great Unknown that finally buried that style of music (for me that is).

So it's been like 6 years i think?

Cryptic crunch!! What a big disillusion! At that time, I remember I have expected an entire album like "perceptor" or "time slices" from Hux Flux. The final result was very disappointing! I understand why you have stopped to listen goa now!

I stopped listening to Goa and started to listen to Psy Trance. I found that album brilliant. Not as good as some early Hux Flux 12"s but revolutionary nonetheless.
