Guest lurk
If you record your vinyl to cd, it won't lose any sound quality. I only play from cd now, but I still buy 12"s, and burn them (onto cd . When I play out I've had no complaints. Its quite a long process, but what you need to do is plug a record player into your PC, and record onto your harddrive useing software like soundforge or wavelab. Then burn the wav files onto cd. :-)
Guest andy
i know its pretty ovbious but i only went through all my old stuff last night and it was fukin great all these gems that i sort of forgotten i had - i think i might be come a bit of a hermit over the next weeks and my weed intake may cause some mental problems but it'll be a nice trip - thanks lurk! l8ers
Guest Elysium Project
As Lurk said it should be possible to record it through a computer (if you have a desent soundcard). Of course the scratches will still be there (I think you can find software that iliminate those scratches) but I find it quite charming :-) Another issue is also that this way you won't worn out your vinyl and it will stay as fresh as new:-)) But I personally prefer to mix with vinyl.. I still can't seem to get the hang of beatmixing with CD's :-(
Guest lurk
I know what you mean EP, I much prefer mixing with vinyl too... but sadly its a miracle if there are any sort of record players at all at the parties I play at :-(
Guest andy
quite like the idea of having the scratches on the vinyl going onto the cd, well not to much but gives it a kind of old skool feel:) think my vinyl may be worn out already, just be great to be able to play some of the older stuff out cause i dont think there is anything better when your in a crowd and everyone hears a classic track starting...you can see the grins developing on peoples faces:)
Guest spacemonkey - 604
yes it's easy to do i did the same with some vinyls too a year back, just plug your stereo into your computer find a recording program and burn the outcome to cd, the quality is good (and i had a crappy soundcard back then). Guest Goagabba
Buy an audio CD Recorder, like a Pioneer, and it's much simpler just working with an amp, the CD and you decks, and directly record the sound crack, snapple and pops

Guest Full Lotus
Andy, you're in the UK right?? Try www.richersounds.com and look for the CD Recorders section within HI-FI Separates. I have the Pioneer PDRW839 CD Recorder which I use for burning my vinyl to CD. Goagabba is right with this being the quickest way with out going via computer/software(and I've tried that method as well). Good Luck

Guest Skeletor
Hey I know a friend who runs his vynl in2 his pc.... via a hardware compressor so the volume level on the recording is even and as loud as can be without peaking...... . then after a noise/scratch reduction plugin the thing is ready to go to cd, in very good shape.
