reger Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 ok boys and girls, post your findings of old tracks that sound just like modern dark/forest/twisted psy yet were perhaps not that well known and loved during dominance of oldschool goa/oldschool psy ! in other words - perhaps tracks that were there a while before there was actual name to describe this type of psy in general? ok, my find was accidental, some months ago, its Sibilant - Screecher Creature, very forest/psy trance sounding ! perhaps im wrong about this, but it does sounds like forest trance IMO Quote

But I'd say some tracks from Battle of the Future Buddhas - Twin Sharkfins, like Tigerhill and Tranceportamental. 1998. Quote

Rotwang Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 Forgive my ignorance, but can someone explain the difference between forest and dark? The first time I heard people using the word forest to describe psytrance referred to Derango's album, which as far as I can tell is dark psy with a picture of a forest on the cover Quote
reger Posted June 25, 2006 Author Posted June 25, 2006 Forgive my ignorance, but can someone explain the difference between forest and dark? 555721 well, imo its just matter of taste, the way someone chooses to label this type of psytrance that is Quote
reger Posted June 25, 2006 Author Posted June 25, 2006 btw - talking about "forest" sound, can some one tell me wich are those "dark" sounds see, thats the same thing, you cant tell exactly, its all mater of taste and feelings/perception that you get when listening to music IMO Quote
Time_Trap Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 Forgive my ignorance, but can someone explain the difference between forest and dark? The first time I heard people using the word forest to describe psytrance referred to Derango's album, which as far as I can tell is dark psy with a picture of a forest on the cover 555721 Forest psy is usually dark too , imo.. There's not MUCH difference I would say it's just the way you perceive music.. I mean, in schlab's page sclab 2 is reffered to as 'morning music', heheh In my opinion the Derango album had a lot of that 'foresty atmosphere'... Quote
Maxx Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 for me forest psy is much more psychedelic and shroomy with a phat beat, then lets say so called dark psy wich very often isnt dark at all, more aggresive and fast but i guess you associate those sounds with darkness, but i guess its all about taste, old school goa can be as good in the forest as lets say derango IMO. fosku Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 I think Planet BEN - Ant Invasion could be mentioned here... Quote
abasio Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 When people talk about forest trance I always picture this but when I listen to it I always picture this guess it's all down to experience. I've never heard that style in a forest. Only at beach parties. Kuro - KTT Quote
reger Posted June 25, 2006 Author Posted June 25, 2006 but when I listen to it I always picture this 555794 "hotlinking not permitted from toddadams.net" weird thoughts you have... Quote
Bahamut Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 http://www.triplag.com/sound/index.htm 555709 I've been tuning in to that station a couple of times today. If this is what you call dark/forest psy or whatever... it is really beyond me what you see in this music. There's like... nothing of interest going on. It's exactly like I decribed: kick+very low monotonous bassline+all sorts of FX/noises and it just goes on and on. I think I know what to call this: DEAD trance.. music completely void of emotions or any melody or atmosphere of interest. Quote
Drosophila Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 Just outside of Oslo some weeks ago. 555719 Ah and Ghreg was playing here wasn't he? Just though I would contribute to the forest collection here! I like forest! The Delta - Scizoeffective (d.Drum 1999) is really dark, I remember when it came it was too dark for me back then! But great stuff! Quote
Maxx Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 nice forest pics guys, the forest is such a great place to be in. Quote
