Guest ad
basketball is such a crap sport - watch some aussie rules football and you will never go back
Järsimähäiriö
Basketball is the best game on earth. I'm also very glad for the Yugos. Next time, though, A. Miller and Brand will wup Divac's and Stojakovic's arses... Go Clips go, go all the way!!! Look at their starting 5: 1: A. Miller 2: Q. Richardson 3: Odom (if healthy) 4: Brand 5: Olowokandi Plus the deepest bench in the League: Jaric, Dooling, Piatkowski, Maggette, Wilcox, Ely, Rooks. How fockin' good is that?! They'll run circles around just about every other team there is, I reckon (read: I hope). Can't wait till November!
Guest Alek
nah... not if Jaric is not in the starting
Guest ocd
fuck this shit, watch hockey
Järsimähäiriö
He won't, but he'll get his minutes at both, 1 and 2. What he needs to do is to develop a more consistant jumper. I really like his style, he is a huge guy for a PG and pushes the ball up-court really well, he has the skills to challenge his guy and take the ball to the hole, plus he is a decent defender (again, his size and quickness will make him look very good against lot of PGs in the League). But jump-shot, he needs a better jump-shot.
Guest Alek
hehe, did you watch the game today? 4/4 three point shots but you are right, his shooting skills were not as good last season (when he was playing for Kinder), but now.. hehe
Guest stringtheory
Congrats to Yugoslavia and Argentina....But let's be honest...The US sent their D team....Had their A team players actually decided to play, they would have blown everyone out. That is the reality of the situation.
Järsimähäiriö
If this was the D-team, would you please define who would play for the teams B and C? This wasn't an awful team by any means, what it lacked was a true center, they decided to bring a bunch of powerforvards with no offensive skills whatsoever instead (Wallace, A. Davis, JermO). True, the top dogs didn't participate, but that's not the point at all; The point is, they thought they wouldn't have to play, they thought the US -team would win no matter who played for the team... Unfortunately, the rest of the world didn't think so. So, at the end of the day, arrogance was the reason that landed you on the 6th spot (nice game, Spain, Pau Gasol means business). So, what happens now? Team USA (please, none of that Dream Team -crap anymore) will have to fight for it's place in the Olympics... What do you think, are we going to see the NBA-stars lining up willing to serve their country next july when the qualifying games kick off? Not bloody likely. Besides, in Sydney, Lithuania was only seconds away from eliminating the USA-team of top-tier NBA-stars... Like it or not, the world is not that far behind any more when it comes to 5 vs. 5 on the hardfloor (The differences in the width of material are still obvious). A team of Kidd, McGrady, Garnett, Duncan and Shaq would still win it no matter the opponent, but it's unlikely that such team will ever be on court together. Guest Alek
i dont know if anyone remembers this, but... the world championship was to be played in 1994 in Belgade, Yugoslavia. it was the first WC that NBA players were allowed to participate in. back then Yugoslavia had an awsome team consisting of Vlade Divac, Drazen Petrovic, Predgrag Danilovic, Alexander Djordjevic... etc... some of the best players of all time. there was much talk about how someone (yugoslavia) could actually beat the nba players. but it never happened. yugoslavia was baned from international competiton in all sports because of the sanctions and the WC was held in toronto instead. the truth behind the situation is that yugoslavia was banned, not because of the war in Bosnia, but because there was a high possibility that the "dream team" might lose to yugoslavia.... haha, ok maybe i got carried away a bit, but its worth thinking about after all, the US is the biggest bully on the block that can get away with almost anything. anyway, 8 years later, we got back at them. and the fact that some top nba players didnt wish to particiapte in the WC is no excuse. they chose not to play, so if you wanna bitch, bitch to them. the same thing happened to yugoslavia, rebraca (detroit pistons) didnt want to play, so in came Koturovic and kicked ass. besides, i dont think this US team was bad at all, there were good players there, so dont think that the us team A would have a much easier time getting to the finals. Strumpling
of course its no excuse, but you must admit that it is pure FACT when I say if USA used thier best players, it woulda been no contest whatsoever... BUT, they didn't, so HAHAHAAA USA!!! HAHAA!!!! -=- Matt/Strumpling -=- lol fuckin whatever... its a sport
Järsimähäiriö
Maybe so, but I can assure you that even that team wouldn't go for 58 straight victories, not any more. Also, like I stated earlier, the US -team of the best ballas did seem vulnerable in Sydney, almost losing against Lithuania, so nothing is to be taken for granted for team USA these days... Now what is interesting to see is how they respond to this humiliation, will the big bois be willing to suit up again (out of the guys not willing to play this time around only the Big Aristotele had a legit health-related excuse not to go... the others just didn't feel like it and preferred to hang around their jacuzzis)? Are they even going to make it to the next olympics?
Guest r2d2
I thought Argentina should've won the Championship. Raferees didn't call that lasf foul few seconds to go in regulation. I mean maybe it wasn't NBA foul but if they gave Divac that foul one possesion before that they should have called that foul when Argentina's player was going for a lay up @ the end of regulatoin. ARGENTINA should have won, NOT Yugoslavia.
Järsimähäiriö
Controversy seems to be the name of the game in the big basketball matches lately... Like some wise man put it, "Refs 2 Lakers 4 3-peat". That serie was a joke of reffing, probably the best example being Kobe knocking Bibby senseless in the vaining seconds of game 6 and getting away with it... Something need to be done, obviously. Video checks? One more ref on court?
