Guest Elysium Project
Jean Michel Jarre Concert "Aero" Saturday 7/9 - 2002 in Denmark on a field in the Dark "Jylland" next to nowhere. The time is 13:40 on this Sunday afternoon. I came home this morning at 7:30 from a fabulous concert. I and many other people have a lot to say about the very poor organizing but the show was worth the entire struggle. Ok let's go for the struggle first :-) 3 km line of people to go with a bus to the concert place. 1 hour and 30 minutes by bus to go the 20 km to the concert place. 2,5 hours of waiting in line to get into the concert field. When the concert began at 21:00 there was still 10.000 people outside struggling to get in. Finally people began to tear down the fences. In the end all control was dropped and people ran into the field totally uncontrolled. The rain pored down (hey only the weather gods fault) and mud all over the place :-) After the concert.....no busses back to Aalborg.... people including myself had to walk many km to find a bus. The busses that finally were available broke down and closed all roads so ambulances couldn't pass. Many people experienced angry bus drivers refusing passengers with return tickets.....They had to buy new tickets. A bus driver got angry and ran into a group of young people. Everywhere cars were stuck :-) The Mobile net was down :-) The special train in Aalborg back to civilization (Copenhagen) did not arrive before 3-4 hours delayed :-( Ok enough struggle talk...on to the concert :-) It was amazing! The whole field was surrounded by giant windmills (they delivered all the power for the concert) and 1000's of small fireworks covered in different colors. In one end there was a massive stage (as big as a 6 floor house) with a stage within the stage. On the massive back wall slides, films and animations was blended together in a sea of colors (wow did that look great). 10 giant round screens in the field made sure that people could see what was going on the stage. A giant firework show (Europe’s biggest) painted the "cloudy" sky in millions of colors all through the show. BIG time letters made up poetic words associating with the theme "Aero" such as "dreams", fantasy, freedom ect. The music was as always fantastic and all the well know tracks was played. Some in their original form and some totally remixed into ambient pieces and faster "trancy" peaces...great great great :-) People went nuts whenever Jean Michel Jarre stopped the concert and talked about the wind and how it influenced our earth. I could go on and on and risk repeating my excitement for this concert...I wont.... Just have to say it has been one of the best concerts in my life.......even with all the bad organizing and struggles :-.) 9.5/10.
