Guest 1
"It was as though someone plunged me into a pussy my entire body was numb, and this awesome feeling of POWER." from twisted sessions comp ~41 minutes elapsed dunno which track. reminds me of the video of inside a womans vagina while a guy is ejaculating, that I had to wacth in 5th grade for "sex edu"... yuck. that sample is just... awkward [?] sounds like it came from a recording of a college frat party ...any respectable girl (imho) would be turned off by that. oh and in Tristian - dark city it's a pretty good track but then suddenly the sample says "kill me" after a few samples that are totaly diffrent. ...and thats all i can think of for now (been listening to Twisted Sessions allot) track 2 rules peace and love
Strumpling
I think this topic was done quite a long time ago (by me?) Howbout from Infected Mushroom - Classical Mushroom, when it scares off ANY non-psy-people (if the beginning of track 3 hasn't already), in track 4: "Patience....... Understanding....... Love.............................Patience......... Understanding ........Love ................................Patience....................... Understanding ..................... Love.......................................... Most of all you need Love." grrrrrrrrOWL, Infected!! In one of your COOLEST TRACKS, nonetheless... Has anybody found a BAD Posford Sample, BTW? lets see..... oh yeah in Cosmosis - Synergy - Track 1 - "Forbidden Fruit" there's this fucking lame sample of this guy talking about christian something-ography that really pisses me off - and it goes throughout the WHOLE TRACK almost!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -=- matT/strumplinG -=- fuN
khogg
You want to hear bad bad terrible cheesy samples just take a listen to the album Ra: to Sirus. Yuck. As for the Cosmosis samples, I must say I quite liked the all the samples on Synergy. To each their own I guess.

Guest mmm...
I think most of them in general are very stupid, actually. Even some by Posford, Strump:P
Strumpling
great examples there, mmm... hehe one of my favorites is from Younger Brother - Dwarves - I can't help but think every time that plays that my neighbors are getting the totally wrong-idea about me ;-)
Guest spacemonkey - 604
well i kinda like the sample in "the shen". actually, i most of the time like most samples, if not well placed, i like them for their "fun" of misplacing. Guest 1
yeah actually the fact that the tristian track suddenly says "kill me" is kinda funny. Makes me laugh cuz it's so out of place! peace n love
Guest mmm...
Hehehe, Strumpling, you know I´m such a practical guy I always get lost in my examples and forget about the abstract whole...=) No, I was just lazy, but ok: "Let´s have a good time..._aaall_ the time...", there´s an example. Those words uttered combined with the voice just annoy me. Well, that´s my 2 cents. Fortunately Simon hasn´t used samples that much - he´s got a Taste there, too... I´d rather talk about the very _good_ ones, though, which I think are very rare. And I absolutely agree with you about Dwarves. Hearing this track with the sample never leaves me cold!! Where´s it been taken from, btw?
Strumpling
the best parts of that sample: "you know.... things like that..." sounds like he's evading something hmm? and "I dont' like to work too often.... unless its for somethin groovy" RoFL!! Guest unikos
well there is this artist called the nam shub of enki and his album on demon tea is full of really weird samples like: i love you.....i love you sooo much and cats screaming and there is this other sample from the wizard of oz i think...... anyway, the guy's music is nuts so the samples actually fit in i might say.. btw i have to agree that dwarves has the worst sample...... it is just so extremelly bad it annoys me so much every time i hear it... Guest 1
Whats the sample say? I don't think i've ever heard this track!
Guest bugbread
"When I arrived in England, I was thrown in jail for about 4 hours, right off the bat" "Why?" "I didn't look respectable, you know, things like that. I, I've been in jail, you know, in a lot of countries, because of my lifestyle, you know. I smoke a little shit, and I just, hang out, you know. I don't like to work too often, unless it's for something groovy." I think it's a great sample, because unlike every other psy sample involving drugs, it's making fun of the guy instead of acting like drugs are all cool. The guy talking sounds like a total stoner hippy, who is so out of contact with reality that he thinks he gets put in jail for not looking respectable, instead of the infinitely more obvious fact that he "smokes a little shit". Still, overall, even though Simon's samples aren't BAD, per se, the fact that they're all about drugs makes it sound a little juvenile. His lyrics (Shpongle) aren't bad, but his samples are a little stereotypical.
Strumpling
so you don't like "I'm going to LEAD you, KICKING and SCREAMING, GIGGLING and LAUGHING into the FUTURE. I'm going to RELAX you; I'm going to GET YOU!" ?!
Guest mmm...
Well, one can interpretate the mood of samples in many ways, I guess, and then end up liking or disliking them. I don´t think Simon´s "druggy" samples are "juvenile" but many of them are more like "documentary", and that´s why I think most of them are all ok. It´s H_allucinogen, after all. The Dwarves sample, however, is for me like a piece of pure drama! The voice and it´s "flow", the particular expressions used...NOW TELL ME JUST WHERE I CAN FIND THIS SAMPLE?!?? (And perhaps more of this great drama..=)
Guest 1
that sample doesn't seem to make fun of the stoner guy in my opinion. I don't interpret it the same way u do bugbread. He sounds like he knows why he's thrown in jail: "I've been in jail, you know, in a lot of countries, because of my lifestyle..." he says "because of my life style" he continues and says: "i smoke a little shit" so he knows why he's in jail. i don't think the sample is there to mock stoners. I think Simon likes stoners, and that the sample is there as a kind of tribute to them. "i don't like to work unless it's for somthing groovy" this shows how Simon belives in the old school hippie cause. thats how i take it. i could be wrong on the intentions of simon however =) peace love
Guest bugbread
Strump: Regarding "I'm gonna lead you": Nah. I don't actively dislike his druggy samples, either, I just don't find them particularly "groovy". The ones I like (and I REALLY like) for some reason are the samples not ABOUT drugs, but of people probably ON them (like the samples at the start of Gamma Goblins about the "Snakes and leopards", or the voices in Shpongle, the guy talking about his head feeling like a football field, with somebody moving the goalposts, etc.) Probably the Simon sample I dislike most is one of the most famous ones: the intro from Demention "think of a circle, with sanity at one end, and you go through insanity, and at the other end of the circle, close to sanity, but not sanity, is unsanity". Ok, so unsanity is right next to sanity, which means unsane people are pretty much the same as sane people, but not exactly. So what? I think it was just a poor analogy, but choosing an analogy that weak for a sample is bad. The track is, as always, amazing though. Like I said, they don't really BOTHER me, but I don't find them impressive either. I end up tuning about half of them out or waiting patiently for them to finish l: I kind of agree with you, too. It's a very Brit sense of humour, I think. He IS making fun of the guy, but he's also agreeing with the guy. It's not like he's attacking the stoner guy, but he's taking the piss. That's what I think makes the track endearing. It's like doing a bad impression of one of your friends; you like them, but you're making fun of them. Guest mmm...
Bugbread, I´m not surprised if you dislike these samples, ´cause it seems you hear them all in your own way;P "...close to INsanity, but not INsanity..." I think there are a billion worse and more stupid samples than that in psy, no matter if it´s sanity or insanity. The other end of imagination is in - sanity. Think about it=)
Guest mmm...
And if we start to talk about what Simon (or the artist in general) meant or did not mean, the conversation will never end, neither lead us anywhere. The artist may have put the sample there, ´cause it sounds "funny". Or because the voice just sounds like his neighbor´s. Or whatever. The important thing is how it sounds to the listener, what it sounds like in the music. It´s the music that matters, not the speculation about some intentions.
Guest bugbread
Sorry, I mistyped. Close to insanity, but not insanity...yet at the other end of the circle, which logically implies near sanity as well (that's how circles work). And re: "I think there are a billion worse and more stupid samples than that in psy, no matter if it's sanity or insanity. " Hell yes. I completely agree. Like I said, I don't think Simon's samples are particularly bad. But Strump asked "Has anybody found a BAD Posford Sample, BTW?", kinda implying that they're all GOOD. So I just answered that in my opinion, he doesn't have many BAD samples, but he doesn't have many GOOD samples, either. They're just kinda there. Now whoever made that track with the constant "Evil Turkey" samples...THAT was bad. Nothing against South Park, but that was total sample overkill. Was that you, Mr. Hanky, or am I getting confused?
