snowball
So what is dark for you? I dont know a lot of recent artists names that make "dark",so kindzadza is a kind of general answer for modern "dark:. sorry if i forgot anybody
Otto Matta
I think, objectively, that the psytrance genre is dark in general. Again, thinking back to when I first started listening I even thought Astral Projection was dark-ish and aggressive. So from that list it's hard to choose which is dark. They're all dark, IMHO, or at least very serious.
Puck
Britney Spears is eeeeevvvvviiiiilllll, therefore dark
Time_Trap
Para Halu The Delta maybe some of Psykovsky and maybe some of Kindazda too although they are more in the fast dark realms...
abasio
Britney spears seems to be leading! But she's not dark, just evil!!!! Evil & dark are different for me. I think we have before discussed about experience being a big player in how you see things. I said I could never understand the forest sound as it always reminded me of the beach parties where I first heard it & the same goes for dark! A lot of music that is considered dark I first heard inebriated to the sky on a beach in the middle of the day so it just never sounded dark! To me, minimal always sounded dark, probably because I always listened to it at night but also because the music seems to have no colour! supergroover
all that is beyond twisted sa style fulllon is dark to me. But thats most likely more because of a lack of a better name than that is really is dark music. beyond twisted fullon, it is undanceable (for longer than 20 minutes anyway, unless you have 1 gram of white powder aiding to your energy), ungroovable, uneverythingable really. So not too interesting (imHo)...
Guest The Journey Man Project
Sandman... his early works had a very nice sci-fi horror and industrial feel to them... dirty n' dark ... his new stuff not so much...
exotic
Just got back from a baphomet engine live .. It was a fucking living nightmare for three hours .. Dark as fucking hell .. there were points where the screaming and the howling got so tense and overwhelming that I jus wanted to run away from the party .. i mean highko , ghreg on earth and horror place are soo much better at creating pounding hypnoic dark music. In effect there is a whole 360 degrees separating hellish dark music and groovy 'dark' music . yesterday was hellish . I need a full day to recover from last night now
RTP
There's much dark out there in the psy world. Noma, MOS, Zerotonine, Haldolium, Quantum State, Para Halu, Grapes Of Wrath, BOTFB, X-Dream... Even Etnoscope is sometimes dark, driving in its own way. Or Silicon Sound. Silicon Sound is also rather dark for me - with some exceptions, but in general... Or Saiko Pod. Some of that's dark too. Pretty actually. Magnetic Force, Tron, Pling Pong... Actually all Psytrance - the real Psytrance - is actually rather dark-ish for me in itself! With some exceptions, but in general it is so. Only the new modern scando or progressive sounds have another vibe - a housy, happy, clubby and melodic one, but not dark...
Maxx
my vote goes to the delta just listen to their album schizoeffective, sandmans album witchcraft also contains some tracks that are more focused on the darker side of psytrance, for newer stuff i go for para halu one of the few acts that actually are able to create a dark atmosphere in their tracks. seraph
THE DELTA are the kings of darkness but Britney Spears is the evil queen.

abasio
Recent tracks from KURO Charm Clutch Yamabikaya I find nice night time dark! All can be found on JP Noir compilation.
Veracohr
It's pretty dark once you enter this cave. At one point we stopped and sat and turned off all our lights, and we were getting fantom images at the edges of our sight, as though our hearing were creating a mental picture of the cave around us. That's pretty dark.
RTP
I thought they were speacialists in light / morning music ?? 598807 the later stuff kinda has become it indeed Metabolism or Shodan for example... But songs like Analog Device, Blue Noise, Digital Thought, Generator, Pure Reality, Seismic Charge, Strange Planet ... and more ... they aren't morning nor light - at least not to me. They are not psycho dark and give me nightmares, no, but they are definitely not happy and that ... rather darkish progessing, you know. And if you look closer at fullon then you will see that it is like that as well ... it only has become too generic, but it's generally a bit darkish and not bright. Not dark like real dark psy, it's not trimmed on darkness by itself, but it's tuned on aggression in the sound and agression in the sound can be achieved easily (and the commercial artists of nowadays mostly prefer the easy way) by keeping the overall atmosphere and effects used rather not on the bright side, you know. At least in my opinion ... I hear the sound not as bright and happy but as aggressive and a bit darkish. I'm not saying oldschool used bright effects - they are also on the dark side, but due to the overall magical sound it has more of a "explore the depths of your mind"-mystical atmosphere... On the other hand - maybe I'm percieving that as dark what other people would describe as "psychedelic" ... ?
Daze
The Delta & Para Halu - but I haven't heard much of Sandmans older stuff. Of the more modern acts I think there are quite a few artists (like Para Halu or Baphomet Engine) that do really well in creating a dark atmosphere! Drosophila
then try listen to sandman's Witchcraft album. it's fantastic, the never sandman sucks. 599171 Yeah Sandman's old stuff is great! I don't really seeing Sandman (and any of the older acts, maybe The Delta) as more dark than most of the "dark" psy beeing produced by people as Psykovsky or the the likes, I would say less, just my opinion It just has a more evil in it, maybe thats it
alleycat
dark is a matter of perspective. In some parts of this world you may find artists like Kindzadza played during the day, and sometimes you may hear some very fluffy stuff played at night. Its really a matter of preference. WHen thinking of "day" and "night" trance, I always think of metal, which is similar to the harder styles of trance. At a metal festival, the metal doesnt stop during the day, to make way for mellow "morning" metal. So why should the headbanging full power trance stop in the day? A matter of preference. Britney Spears is the dark queen of cheese. No doubt about that, out of that list, shes definitely the darkest. That is true dark music, the real Darkside of the Force. Commercialized bullshit music that is made into pop somehow, by marketing it as pop. If you tell the morons its what everyone likes, some of them are probably going to believe it.
