Drosophila Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 wicked! This is very cool indeed try and check their homepage... they have a lot clips... http://www.mtg.upf.edu/reactable/?media Fucking nice that they have spend so much energy in making this trippy device! Quote
Stalker Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 According to someone else it actually works on a rather simple input/output method. The input is a video camera, which records the motion, angle and orientation of each block placed on the table. Each symbol on these blocks is then interpreted by the computer and given an ID number which executes a set of instructions depending on its ID. The output isnt a fancy plasma screen either, but a standard projector which projects changes back out to the table to make it semi-interactive. Quote
RTP Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 this is awesome! and actually pretty simple as Stalker explained it... cool Quote
Bahamut Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 very cool, but in essence it's just a different way of controlling a synthesizer(?) Quote
Drosophila Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 this is awesome! and actually pretty simple as Stalker explained it... cool 640967 If its that simple, then I want one!!!! must be fun!!! Quote
Starlancer Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 very cool, but in essence it's just a different way of controlling a synthesizer(?) 641003 Yep, i agree. Nothing new about it musicwise. It's just another synthesizer with fancy controls. Quote
Shaft Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 Well it is and it isn't... Look at all the different devices, sequencers, samplers... It's like a completely modular host application, any device can effect any other device. Extremely cool. Quote

Jon Cocco Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 Interesting. The concept seems innovative I presume. But wouldn't this take an awful lot of work to do something that can be perfected on the cpu? You have two hands trying to sync everything up eventually it would seem difficult mixing (bringing in and out) multiple layers of sounds with so many objects on the whatever-thing they're on. Still, looks interesting. Quote
