Guest Mike D
I picked this up from the reviews post and it basically sums up the meamning of the minimal movement for me: the shamans only needed a drum... that says quite much doesn´t it... soem aeld
they also used their voice I think. The voice is a powerful instrument when used correctly
Guest Mike D
Yes that is ture, hence why I like Sonic Fusion so much, just voice and drums, but no real vocals :-)
Guest spacemonkey - 604
probably some additional handclapping and feetstomping was involved.

Guest Mike D
I'm saying that music can be psychedelic withouth having to be the full on style hmmm? Or can't U figure it out for yourself??
Guest Kristian
Summary: Shamans needed a drum, a voice, handclapping, feetstomping, leaf-rattles, whistling, flutes, drugs and funny hats.. Well, sounds like full on to me! )) I think it's a matter of taste. Why narrow yourself to a few objects involved in the music when we live in the 21st century and have all the technology in the world to use in our music? I prefer full on with a full mayhem in all frequencies, where you can switch yourself to a certain frequency with a slower tempo and for the next get caught by another faster frequency running at the same time but for the previous moment you weren't aware of that and now you are totally surprised for kicks, letting yourself go! Guest Psymike
Minimal is such a great way of creating music, as u getting to the bare bone sounds, rather than all this twidling noises flying all over the tune. I just find that minimal brings out a tune a bit more and gives it a bit more character
Guest D-Dave
I think minimalistic music is great for the night, I get bored easily though and want a progression and a change in style as the party goes from night to day. Only a bassdrum doesnt do it for me. For sure minimal can be psychedelic though, I´ve been tripping hard to minimal. I still prefer my meat cooked and spicy though. Guest baba
Yeah and people used to wipe their ass with their hand too. And cavemen would just grunt to communicate. What does this all say about minimal? Nothing! It sucks! Nothing creative in it nothing progressive about it. Just useless noise. I have a great suggestion for some of the stupid drug addict minimal freaks-instead of listening to minimal and tripping on E, try banging your head really hard against solid objects, like walls, so that you can listen to the thump sound in your head and feel your brain rattle. Dudes this will give you a trip like no other! Especially if you try and do it by jumping head first from tall objects.
Guest D-Dave
What is really interesting in this topic is that "full-on" lovers (so called minimal haters) react so strongly towards minimal music while minimal lovers seem to accept full-on music. Im not saying we should all accept different styles of music cause thats f_u_c_k_ing boring, what Im saying is maybe the minimal lovers should consider why other people hate minimal so much. Ha! Consider this a flame post if you want. (You dont HAVE too though. Really! NO- REALLY!)

Guest Dino
baba ---> A bit harsh maybe? But one can think the same about full on. I for example can think much full on music is just a bunch of sounds thrown together in a way any idiot with a synth and a sampler could do. But many artist do a good job and create something more.. something with a string of melody in the background that can make me love the track.. anyway what I wanted to say.. Most music can sound like shit! Minimal AND full on! Allthough myself I prefere a good minimal track over any good full on track!
Strumpling
I still really haven't heard much minimal that GRIPS me as well as music thats "packed-full" of harmonious sounds.

Guest Mike D
For those who took this post so damn seriously, chillout, I meant it a a bit of a laugh. I love every type of psy and would more than readily admit that there is great style in every genre` of psy, and also aload of shite as well in SOME cases. Sorry if it got you worked up, but I just meant to point out that there really can be fun had out of music that is repetitve and sometimes quite unimiganitive, that you can just dance to it and have fun. So chill everyone :-) Cheerz to ya'll, mike Dwer :-)

Guest cricket
minimal is a developed taste. i spin full thick goa and minimal techno. minimal is just really touchy becuse your really need to love the base of the techno sound. most people need to be entertained than hypnotized, depends on the mood. too much of either can be boring. Guest Kristian
"minimal is just really touchy becuse your really need to love the base of the techno sound." But if you don't like techno? and love GOA and misses thoose trancefeasts of 95-99? Then you propably won't like minimal trance either (progressive)
