Can you give me your fav 3?? Excluding Dreamfish.

Thanks in Advance.

@Starkraver

He had a lot of material as you know... and lot of it is kind of bland if you ask me (he was a bit of a bulk producer). However, some of his collaboration is pretty decent indeed. Here's a couple good ones:

I've checked out some of the earliest FAX releases, and realized that they're all trance! It maybe even "proto-goa"! So, he was releasing trance compilations (e.g. Compilation 1) before it started happening in the UK! I am wondering whether Pete was somehow influential in the German trance scene, or was he just riding the wave? What other trance artists from the early period in Germany does anyone know? I find this early history of trance music fascinating, and have always liked the German minimal sound.

"Namlook" is "Koolman", a phonetic rendering of his real name, Kuhlmann, spelled backward.

Never cottoned on to that :lol:

For Namlook my favourites were

Shades of Orion

From Within

Time^2

For Fax but not Namlook I'd say Tetsu Inoue - Ambiant Otaku is immense :wub:

Physical media is still extremely popular in Japan. Record shops are everywhere, CDs still cost $30 and video rental shops are profitable. It's like the whole country has said fuck you to digital media :P

Yeah I know! Lucky you.

I have seen a couple a few pictures of the shops. My god! It had everything! Almost every classic Goa cd. :o

I knew a kick ass dealer once but japs are weird! anyways, I'll look out for it. If you know any Japanese online shops PM me ;)

10 years ago HMV and Tower Records had 1000s of psy CDs. There used to Psytrance only shops. I remember the day I went in to Shibuya to visit my favourite Psytrance shop and it had closed down and had becone :( :( another crappy teenage girl clothes shop.

The best shop now is disc union that has a mix of new and used CDs and vinyls. Occasionally you'll just find something fantastic, like Ambiant Otaku. The problem is that they got better knowledge now and it's harder to find the gems for dirt cheap these days.
