Guest 1
Who is more psychedelic in your opinion? We all know Pink Floyd is the inspiration of so many amazing artists in the goa scene. We know shpongle couldn't exist without pink floyd's influence. But to you which is more psychedlic? I think shpongle has surpassed the level of Pink floyd's endeavors... Shpongle and Younger Brother to me Pink is a darker trip than shpongle... so less psychedelic Shpongle is more divine more twisted more adventureous ... just more mind expanding. It takes me farther and goes deeper. What do u think? ....I wish *Younger Brother* and Shpongle were the 2 dominant projects simon worked on... heh i guess Slower beats are more trippy to me =) so anyway whataya think? Guest HAch
if you think pink floyd is a dark trip so you dont know to much about then and you shouldnt type this post.... or maybe you only know tdsotm and the wall... i personally think that the level of complexity and colorfull visualitation and musically sense of things like "echoes" (you should check out the letter of this one... i can think in another one so beatufil and well mixed with the music that this one... i mean.. you really are there in the sea, motionless in labyrinths of coral... you really can see it,..) or all the wywh, go far far away of any other thing any other psychedelic artist (if not all artist in all genres). not telling shpongle is bad... i think that they are the only ones who someone maybe, maybe could compare with pf, anyway pf goes to much far far away that any other psychedelic music ever... stay shpongled

Guest chong
The question should be; SHPONGLE or UB40?
Guest bugbread
Hmm... The only Pink Floyd stuff I find truly psychedelic is their stuff on Ummagumma (and, of course, those same tracks when appearing on other albums). A Saucerful of Secrets, Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun, Careful with that Axe, Eugene, etc. My favorite album of theirs, Atom Heart Mother, tries to be psychedelic, but it doesn't come off as psychedelic as they intended, I think. The same goes for most of their tracks on Piper At The Gates Of Dawn. Don't get me wrong, they're awesome tracks, but they are only very marginally psychedelic. Pink Floyd were definitely pioneers of psychedelic music, but ironically it's their less psychedelic tracks that are the most popular. Guest --==1400MiLeS==--
UmmaGumma is a psychedelic fest indeed, Shpongle isn't up to that level yet. Somehow Celtic Cross' Hicksville or Hallu-s' 'the Herb Garden' is closer to the UmmaGumma sound than Tales imo...
Guest 1
Hach i'm def no expert on Pink. And there are S000000OOOOOooooooo many alubms. But what i've herad i'd def call dark... I wanted to ask a qustion relating the two... but somthing like>>> Who do you listen or like more? would be too boring of a question. So instead i say ... compare the two! which do you find more mind expanding? which do you (want to) listen do when tripping?

Guest Zaramatu
Yeah ItZeL, where have you heard that? According to what *I* know, Shpongle is a collaboration between Christina Aguilera and Bruce Springsteen!
Strumpling
Shpongle. Listen more closely, people.
Guest bahamut
isn't klaus schulze psychedelic too? tracks like friedrich nietzsche & floating the length of these tracks alone creates some trance effect you can't acclompish with shorter tracks... not to mention the spacy sounds, hypnotic melodies and freestyle drumming... it certainly fits my own definition of psychedelic music
Guest Full Lotus
I don't know how you can ask who is more psychedelic, given the fact that the technology that Pink Floyd used in the 60's/70's is about 30 years out of date. The only true 'psychedelic' Floyd album was 'Piper at the Gates of Dawn' released in 1967. It's way more psychedelic(imho) than 'Saucerful of Secrets'. 'Piper' was definitely inspired in part by the consumption of psychedelics whereas 'Saucerful' and everything after it was not. Sure there are some interesting and what could be described as psychedelic pieces of music, but it is all down to the listener. Psychedelia is in the mind of the beholder. I would say, adjusting for time scales and technological differences, they are as psychedelic as each other, in their own unique ways. Guest PePe
I had nice trips on Ummagumma wich is the most psychedelic album imo(the live CD the other i dont like). But the trips i had on shpongle and cetlic cross where happier and more pleasant in general. So I prefer shpongle.
