Guest aussie
borrowed this from www.oztrance.com - any comment? _________________________________________ I am starting to notice that while GMS's 'No Rules' does go a little further than their previous three "GMS sounding" albums... when you look at who actually made the tracks (with GMS I hope!), it seems that perhaps GMS are taking credit for other people's work. One track in particular makes me really wonder, and it is the title track No Rules. I have been recently getting into Earthling, and after locating a compilation that contained two tracks by Earthling vs DJ Shanti, well I was excited wasn't I So I listen to the first Earthling vs Shanti track (called No Rules), and sure enough there are no rules. It is the title track from GMS' album, but no mention of GMS in the tracklist. At this stage I'm skeptical, wondering if its just the tracklist's fault, and perhaps they all worked on it. So I listen to the other Earthling vs Shanti track (Das Boot), and my god its amazing how the production is absolutely identical to their other track, No Rules. Also amazing, is how the production, musicianship, and just about everything on that track are completely different to anything else on the GMS album... go figure In fact the more I listen to it, the more GMS' album sounds like a very poorly selected and mastered compilation cd with production and quality all over the place. I'd love to really know how much they did and didn't do, more credit should be given to callaborating artists. Here's the most comprehensive tracklist I could come up with: 1.GMS And Earthling-Life After 2.GMS With DJ Shanti And Earthling-Gladiator 3.GMS With Earthling with DJ Shanti-No Rules 4.GMS And Earthling-Im On Mars 5.GMS And Alien Project-Hyperactive 6.GMS And Alien Project-At The End Of A Rainbow 7.GMS With Skazi And Parasense-Spliffpolitics 8.GMS And DJ Shanti-Juice by GMS 9.GMS And DJ Shanti-Overdose PS. Could it be that GMS traded in the old Chicago for some new artists to bring them a new sound (on a silver platter )??
Guest bassfreak
It seems that GMS are full of shit...maybe we should boycott them? Check out the shit they pulled by double booking themselves on Saturday night (at the Tipworld party in London, and at Vortex in Cape Town): http://www.kwik-kut.co.za/viewtopic.php?to...pic=542&forum=2 and http://www.kwik-kut.co.za/viewtopic.php?to...orum=2&start=

Guest EP
bassfreak I think you're getting a bit carried away here :-) Could it be that one of the 2 organisers used the GMS name to attract more people without actually booking GMS? Think about that !
Guest lurk
EP, the party in London was a TIPWorld party so I don't think that would be the case there; and the Vortex party in South Africa had been fixed for a long time; and I know from South African friends here that they have an extremely good reputation. On the flyer for the london party it actually says that only Riktam would be there, but i guess no-one passed this info on to Vortex... I wonder why. Guest mugge
It could be something like this.... They split up to play in two different places, make more money... that has done that before, I don't see anything bad in it.
Guest Cypher Punk
It seems that it is not only the London, it happens all over the world. http://forum.isratrance.com/viewtopic.php?...7322&forum=1&
Guest Full Lotus
The Tipworld flyer also said 'GMS featuring Shanti'
traveller
Since I find GMS's "music" pure crap I couldn't really care less, I dis it even more than most minimal music.. I hope they loose their living and actually have to work..
Guest Inkoknito
I was for two weeks on a Party with GMS, it looks like a POP concert, there are absolutly comercial people! But i think on the VOOV they have played very good dance music.
Guest Alek
I would give my left ball to see them play live...
Guest scandalist
i seriously dont see what people have against gms. they sound commerical? wtf is a commerical sound? if your music is good, it will sell and attract more people, you cant blame them for that. once you get bigger your name attracts a lot more people, promoters notice this and use that to make money. many other artist's albums are just a bunch of caliborations but nobody seems to pick on them. IMO, gms are brillant, they are extremely creative and innovative. just like infected mushroom and astral projection, but everyone loves them for some reason. gms does put work into their music, its not easy to produce songs like that and if it was every single psy act would as big if not bigger. Guest Raider
I like GMS too... :{ Very much indeed.
Guest Entity
I like GMS too but they have a studio in Ibiza (not cheap) and they require a large set up on top of their $3000.00 charge if you want them to play live. While I like their sound, speed, and rythym I have trouble respecting them. I doubt they ever had to "work" for thier money, but mind you I don't know them and should not say such things about people I don't know. To me it seems that they are using spirituality as a cash making oportunity. Not a new new idea. Never a respectable one.
Guest Goagabba
Let the boycotting begin! This is the third no show for GMS in South Africa. Grant (Vortex org) had booked GMS for a live show, 12 months before. He paid for Bansi & Riktam's plane tickets et al. Tip.World had 1200Mics booked at the london party. Bansi went to SA, and gave Vortex a very lame excuse, about Riktam having girlfriend problems (she supposedly stole or his Riktam's passport), but he could still pitch up at Tip.World party london? If his fucking passport had been hidden by his gf, then how the fuck does he get from Ibiza to UK?
Naiman
Yeah, Gms for some reason didn't show up for a party in Finland recent too, don't know the reason though..
Guest Zero
At Orejona they had a 24hours delay, all the line-up had to change for those "divas", and finally they played a very lame "ping pong" set, sooo boring that a lot of my friends went to sleep in their tents and missed the rest of the party.... Guest phaeton
hehe actually i thought it was perfect that gms were playing at orejona, as i desperately needed some rest after digital talk hope you didn't miss weirdo beardo, zero as for the original topic, i guess pretty much everyone must have noticed that gms their collaborations are always 10 times less boring than their own tracks. i guess riktam and bansi are great producers but really uninspired composers, so i personally don't think it's a bad development at all if they're doing more collaborations ..
