NEMO.BOFH Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 I am listening to The Art of Being Non at the moment, and its so much better than I remember it. I dug it out since I compared it to IM, and I was listening to IM BP Empire yesterday, so I had to take a listen to this as well.... anyways, so after listening to it, I realize that I was totally wrong, and this album fucking totally rocks! Thank you Talpa! Nemo Quote
Tatsu Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 It's nice but so far this album wasn't able to move me like Classical Mushroom, The Misted Muppet album or the Nystagmus album did. I might change my mind after trying to listen to it while tripping but so far it's the least promising from all the similar albums. Quote
Shaft Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 The mastering/gear lets it down a lot, obviously it was composed in a cheap studio - but his talent definitely shines through. Rebirth and the two downtempo tracks are excellent, and the rest is fairly decent too. Quote
psytones Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 Trust No Goblin The Moon Rebirth Never was a huge fan of the two downbeat tracks. Quote
advance Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 Awesome album. I agree Nystagmus' The Immaculate Perception and IM's Classical Mushroom are just as good, maybe better. Thank god we can hear all three albums without having to choose only a single one! Quote

Thank you Talpa! Nemo It did take you a few years, but congrats on realizing this Listened to it at work once again and it still fucking totally rocks! I'd even say Talpa > BP Empire > Nystagmus Quote
psytones Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 mmmmmm... yjay looks so good. Me so hungry, me no foood infridge Quote
Lepton Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 too bad the album doesn't match his earlier work : kalashari and talpania ... I still play those tracks and they still kick ass ... Quote
NEMO.BOFH Posted March 17, 2007 Author Posted March 17, 2007 After a few more listens, I got bored, but its very good. Quote
santo Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 Talpa is teh shit, yo! Love this album. The moon is the first psy track I listened to. Quote
RTP Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 The moon is the first psy track I listened to.that's the only Talpa I know and I don't like it... Quote
Riton Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 I like Talpa's stuff a lot, that track on twist dreams is great! Quote
unikos Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 i really disagree....... maybe 10% of the melodies are high pitched and epic-style. the other 90% isnt and the whole album has a mystic feeling. its not remotely close to stuff i'd personally label as cheese.. especially compared to other stuff out there... for me talpa manages to step into the braindance spectrum a bit.. whereas cheese doesnt even get me in the silly dance spectrum Quote
Peyote Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 It's too orchestral imo, heard him play tracks live from this album twice and wasn't really impressed. It isn't comming close to IM Quote
advance Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 Cheese? Come on. In my opinion, The Art of Being Non is to Psytrance (or "butt-rock goa"?) as Sky Input is to Goa. It is a classic of the genre, or at least of the newer stream of it. Quote
Goa Bill Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 It's great. Reminds me The Gathering a lot with the roughness and the insane stream of ideas. Quote
abasio Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 It's not the best Psy I've ever heard but it's pretty good. Not cheese IMO If you think this is cheesey then listen to The muses rapt - You. Now that is cheesey Quote
abasio Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 Not all cheese is smelly The best cheese is though Quote

Riton Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 If this is cheese to you, then what is protoculture and stuff... Quote
NEMO.BOFH Posted March 17, 2007 Author Posted March 17, 2007 I love hos Visine just posts a cheese and then doenst post anything else! nice going bro Quote
healium Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 "Cheese" is such a meaningless word for music - I actually didn't like the Talpa album in general because I thought it was too aggressive and grating - can tell it was made by a young male... Quote
