StraydoG
Basically this year, Ima going to be a poor student. Right now Im a bum (yay!) but studying soon. Question is, which labels make good compilations? YSE (Yellow Sunshine Explosion) is what got me here. I brought some older GOA stuff (90s) and then saw new things so I got GOA sound system 4,5&6 which introduced me to this whole new GOA and PSY world. Im still really happy with getting and listening to these CDs. Since I wont be able to buy so much artists CDs whats a good direction to go in terms of compilations? A nice selective range would be good. Eg. Different countries/styles&labels. More of a full on guy but I still like some chill, progressive & darker psy. Thanks in advance for any help forcing me to save money (although I really want to buy, buy, BUY!).
supergroover
aren't artist albums the same price as compilations? with the last 200 albums i bought they were rather similar
StraydoG
Yeah, they are the same price unless you get double CD comps. What Im saying as rarther than buy a crap load of artists CDs Ill get only a few compilations to keep me going. I would rather get the artists CDs but money is going to be very tight so I have to pick wisely.

gumballs
for the beginning of goa, the start of it all: va - voyage into trance for brand new millenium goa: va - twist dreams one more great goa comp: va - dementertainment and other comps from the labels dragonfly (the early ones), tip (not tip world), and suntrip then for a great psychedelic chillout: va - natural born chillers then dubby chillout: va - wider horizons goa chillout: va - spaceships of the imagination (but itll become obsolete when you start collecting the albums, this is the only compilation where nearly all the songs are taken from albums) if you want original stuff go for va - eclipse instead labels: liquid sound design, chillcode, interchill good ol psytrance: both va - crystal skulls compilations more must have psy comps: both unusual suspects weeerdass psy: va - musica discordia labels for good psy comps are: sundance, twisted, gi'iwa general progressive: va - spiral trax swedish trance and goa (double cd! good buy) older prog style - cross link (another double disc!) new style prog: trash art lables for the best comps: iboga, digital structures, tribal vision fullon: pffff. i dunno. any random compilation from the tip world, hom mega, or yoyo labels i guess... trust me tho. these are the definitive starting points, take it from me, im a noob!!! abasio
No one here own any YSE stuff at all? I did but I found it to be pretty boring stuff. There is better fullon out there. Try Far East Technology on Elf Music or Yabai Records

Thanks in advance for any help forcing me to save money (although I really want to buy, buy, BUY!). I think labels such as Tipworld, Nano, Twisted, 3d Vision, Sigma, and Sirius Have and still continue to release not only good artist albums, but great compilations as well. Recent good Compilations: 1. Mother Hackers-compiled by Q-Master (Sigma) 2. Full Power-compiled by XP Voodoo (Sirius) 3. 1200 Micrograms Remixed (Tipworld) 4. Origin Stage Three-compiled by Ans (Nano) 5. God Save The Machine-compiled by Lucas (Tipworld) 6. And newcomer Record Label. Fractal Energy-complied by dj Solaris (Fractal) I hope this list of record labels and compilations will set you on the right path with the right kind of music you are looking for. I know they did and do for me. The list is mainly Full-on but the sounds are widely varied.
SkeletonMan
My favourite compilation of 2006 by far is God Save The Machine on TIP-World. Every single track kicks ass.
rino
My pick: Old School Goa: The Truth Of Communication (1996) (Matsuri Records) First Flight (1996) (Flying Rhino Records) Air Born (1996) (Flying Rhino Records) Accidental Occidentalism (1995) (Symbiosis Records) Order Odonata (Volumes 1,2,3 are ALL essential) (1994, 1995, 1996) Orange Compilation (1995) (T.I.P. Records) Yellow Compilation (1995) (T.I.P. Records) Psy: The crystal skulls compilations are awesome, both of them, surely I would recommend 'em any time! The Evolution Of Expanded Consciousness (2006) (T.I.P. World Records) Forest Psy (darker stuff...): All three installations of the Psy Stories series on Parvati Records Virtually each and every compilation from Schlabbaduerst Rekkords, mainly the vol. 007, which is downright spektakulah! Sanatonic Audio (2006) (Sanatonic Records) Yeah, it is a lot, but I really felt like dropping a list, and oh yeah- the Twist Dreams compilation, do not go anywhere without it!
