I posted this on another forum, but would like to no your opinion on ....

Why are labels so important in Psy/Goa Trance...look at any other genre of music..no one really care what label the stuff was released on...then how come so much importance is given to what label a certain artist is with???

My experience is that some different labels releases different type of Psy-Trance/Goa.

ie. If I buy a cd from distance or whynot. I know almost exactly what kind of music this is.

I bet those different labels have different thoughts about what the music should "look" like in our ears.

I have a few friends with same taste as i do.

ie. We both like Infected Mushroom, but songs he love i hate instead because of different taste. Maybe songs from "Blue Room" is more like him......and so on. (I wonder if this post makes any sence at all?"

I pretty much agree. Labels tend to be relatively small (compared to major rock labels, etc.), so they tend to have a certain "sound". If I say "Iboga", you get a different idea than if I say "Psy-Harmonics".

To tell you the truth, I think this happens in ANY (relatively) small scene. In noise, for example, Alchemy sounds different than Tzadik. You may just not notice it because you're not into other really small scenes.

Alot of scenes have labels with certain sounds. The metal scene is one obvious example, as is the hip hop scene. I think for the bulk of popular music its not such an issue, but then the bulk of popular music is all put out by the Big 5 so....

In 604 the prime emphasis is on the artist, then the label and then the DJ. Previously you could blindly buy stuff from Twisted, Dragonfly, Blue Room...

Not anymore unfortunately but thats another story.
