Psytrance? 140BPM

Okay, I'm a bit of a newb. Actually, really a newb. This is the first trance (period) I have ever made. I don't know how to classify it and I don't know much about mastering and production. I just want to know a couple things from you find folks.

 

1) Is this psytrance?

2) Is it a good track?

3) Any advice on mastering this?

Hmmm...well I'd say it's not psytrance.

 

I could see this as RPG music. It's not bad for what it is. There's a sound starting at 1:00 with a lot of portamento that I think could do with a lot less portamento. I like the evolution from section to section. Some of the sounds sound much too much like boring General MIDI or preset sounds. I'd say work on making unique sounds.

Crap. Well, I'll keep trying. I have been making RPG music for long before I heard Psytrance, so I guess I still have the RPG mentality. Gotta make a better song that will stand on it's own.

 

Any comments on the mixing or mastering though? I need some help with that too....

I kindof like the thing and its really good for a first song. I think you shouldn't be trying to make psytrance but you should develop your own style(psychedelic rpg music or something) and work on making something really unique

Oh and try to learn how to make your own sounds if you use presets(just see how they are made or somethig).

First song? Well, not exactly. It's my first song that is of the Dance/Psytrance style. The rest of the things I made were Videogame songs or Rock. So I tried to do that. I really hope I didn't mislead anyone.
