Guest The Broken Engine
How many releases are so rare that the most of the people don't know they even exist ? When i had the occasion to put my hand on "The EP" (this is the real title written on the inside circular label of the vinyl) out from Brainstom, i was aware of living an epic moment: the first (un)known released by Etnica. But listening to those tracks, i wondered they were really Etnica. I read again & again the back cover, just to find some different infos which could have helped my mind: a collaboration, a different group members list. Absolutely nothing! "All tracks concepted, written & produced by Etnica group". [btw: who does know who Mike Logan is (speaking of the trance scene i guess)] ? If you consider "Juggeling" as an immature sound album, you're not prepared to listen to "The EP". Me myself wasn't prepared!! Even now i have some serious problems to accept those tracks as Etnica's ones. A sound that grew so much in the same year with "Juggeling", with its mellow scales up & down ("Spheric Koncept") and some great track ("A Gili's Voyage [Ketu remix]"). Extremely positive signals for the next masterpiece: "Alien Protein". But in "Juggeling" we have "in nuce" all the characteristic sound of Etnica first era. "The EP" seems a relic out of time! Perhaps it was released on 1995, but the tracks were composed during previous years: just a supposition. On the other hand, how many of you liked SFX? Infact, while the vinyl spinned around, i had the impression of a time-travel back to them, with those extremely simple sounds, the fat basses, the linear monophonic melodies, the use of super-used sample ("a night latin rhythm": who does remember "X-Reel - Influid EP" xm module, in which this sample was looped as a real aural torture ?) and - listen, people, listen - the notes & chords of a Bright Piano!!!! Yes! Etnica played the piano! At the moment i don't remember any track by Etnica in which a piano is played, but i could be wrong: totally bewildered for its presence, now. Now, while i write these lines, i'm listening over & over to the 3 tracks in loop mode and i begin to whistle happily (or stupidly their melodies: a trancey side effect ? =) Conclusions: an extremely early production by Etnica. A production that add value nowadays to their personal iter on music styles, to their personal music growth. For fans and devoted freaks only! (A funny note) Here is how they listed themselves: D.J. Max Lanfranconi Maury B. Carl P. A. Ritts (ahahaha! Ritts :PPP) That's all, dudes. Have a nice day TBE np Etnica - Gollum
Guest Jeff
According to their website : "Etnica was established in the late 1980's after a long experience through the performance of DJ Sets, Live Acts and Party/Festival Organisation." "The EP" could thus have been made well before 1995... Any precise info ? J.
Guest Taika-Kim
How about Man With No Name - Way Out West? (it's acid house, as his other early creations too...) Shudder.
Guest The Broken Engine
Well, Etnicanet says it was released on 1995. But no mention appears on the vinyl or in the back cover: i mean no year specified. There's even the mobile phone of the publisher :PPP I think it was published some time before due to the style totally different from "Juggeling" =) Ciao TBE

Guest Full Lotus
It's true, he was in Sigue Sigue Sputnik, at least I think he was. I could be wrong, but Olli Wisdom from SpaceTribe is an ex-punk and played in a Goth band in the UK called Specimen: http://80music.about.com/library/artist/bl...?terms=specimen
