abasio
So who's heard of this label? I know The Journey Man Project has It's was he that recommended to me this label in the 1st place and for that he has my gratitude. Thanks Mike, you're Fab!! After being recommended I went out and bought collection One, Two and Three. At first I was a little disappointed. I put them on & started doing something else & I didn't really listen to them & they came across as boring! How stupid I was, the next few weeks I didn't listen again but I thought I would give it another try as all my best music didn't sound brilliant straight away, or did but got even better! Listening to them through headphones with no distractions was an utter joy! Really really good stuff on all 3 CDs. Very deep trippy odd chillout! On the back of this new discovery I wanted more so I ordered Saul Stokes - Radiate which is pretty good but really needs the right mood to enjoy, The Circular Ruins - The Alchemy Concert a live radio concert which great relaxed atmospheres & Spielerei - Publix more solid stuff! My obsession was underway (I could curse Mike for making me need another record label to complete ) Noticing they have some Japanese artists (or at least based in Japan) on their books I ordered Waki - Music For Waki People some weird minimalist techno ambient weirdo! That was top & has stayed high on my pile of messed up CDs! Today in the post I recieved Mutagene - Sleeping Possession an much more upbeat dubby style of album & really really good! I think Mutagene is Canadian living in Japan (based on the blurb inside the cover). I also received today Off The Sky - Gently Down The Stream because I like the Name & title more than anything else. I haven't heard it yet but I'm sure looking forward to it! So, who else apart from me & the Journey Man Project like this label? What is your favourite release? How did you come across them? Isn't it good that the one label has such a diverse sound? I don't have anything from their sub labels Bluebox (Netherlands), dataObscura & Practising Nature (with only CDr releases), yet but I will soon I hope! Links Discogs Databloem dataObscura Website www.databloem.com They definitely need more recognition & support!
Bahamut
Yeah what I've heard is pretty good. Their style is subtle, organic, 'experimental' sort of ambient....never heavy on the melodic or rhythmic side. Seems like very creative music to me, where the artists really create sounds and music from scratch...what I mean by that is they develop their own sound....no obvious use of sample cds and more or less 'standard' or preset synth and rhythm sounds like in a lot of psy chill. Gently Down The Stream is very good IMO. http://www.atmoworks.com/ label would be sort of similar
Mergi
I have the two first releases, and I'd buy more if I could. Very very nice ambient music, abstract and experimental... it all gives you a very interesting listen. It reminds me a bit of the stuff DiN releases. Usually when getting to know new labels I check the labels on discogs to get myself some sort of perspective of what it is, then I try some of the sound samples. I stumbled upon Databloem and checked it out, samples sounded good as well, so I bought the two first ones.

Guest The Journey Man Project
yeah I was soooo bored of the cliche` releases in the current psy chill and dub... so this label got my attention from sample on saikosounds and when I wqas in Japan living lst ear, I enjoyed it when I would sit in a park ona sunny day with my eyes closed... for sure this is the best true ambient label, and they support artist's who want to experiment... I have every cd except or the 3 latest, whic I'll probably order for my birthday later this month I mostly enjoy playing this stuff in dj sets, it flows nice and the song are long and take you in deep... I've sadi this many time, but if you enjoy Ishq andhis many other projects, you'll love this label

abasio
A pity not more people here have heard of this label, I really think a lot of people might like it! Very experimental & needs some work with each release but definitely worth it
Mergi
Databloem or Dataobscura has no real ties to the psy/goa scene and thusly a lot of people who are active on this forum will not have heard about it. Databloem/Dataobscura is pure real abstract-ambient/downtempo labels so you really have to be an ambient fan to really get yourself to explore it. Also they're quite new, so they still need time to sink into the environment. Abasio, if you like Databloem I'd recommend the label DiN for more experimental-ambient CDs. Snapinho
I know Off the Sky because he played after me on a party once, but it was the wrong crowd for his music (or better yet: no crowd at all ) and well, it was a bit too dark (?) and slow, and I found it boring at the moment, but as I said: that was a matter of wrong time, wrong place. Otto Matta
Saul Stokes and especially Off the Sky make some really cool music. Reminds me of a lot of Tim Hecker's stuff.

Saul Stokes and especially Off the Sky make some really cool music. Reminds me of a lot of Tim Hecker's stuff.Cool, I must check Tim Hecker's stuff then. Cheers! abasio
I finally got some stuff from DataObscura (the CDr wing of Databloem, must admit I don't see much difference in CDs & professional quality CDrs direct from the label) From The Circular Ruins (of whom I am trying to get the complete discography, as you can guess I hold this guy (the head of Databloem records) in very high esteem) I got Conjunction & Land of the Blind as well as a collaboration with Off the Sky, We All Fall Down Also got Kwook's album Unidentified Feathered Object & last years Chronostatic Scenes by False Mirror as usual with these guys I am very impressed. I'd still check out Joseph Nothing and Tim Tetlow albums...
