For tracklist scroll down (some people don't like to read tracklist before downloading). This is my first week at trancechannel and this aired precisely a week ago. I think my mixing has much improved recently and I've used harmonic mixing a lot more and my beatmatching is a lot better. I've also upgraded to Traktor 3 so things are much more smooth overall. Nah Traktor 3... well if you want history then check out www.last.fm/user/darkarbiter but I'll sum it up. I decided that mixing would be a really cool thing to do at the time and did a few mixes with cool edit pro 2.1 (you can't really do much with it so I wouldn't exactly suggest it). First mix I thought just overlap first and last 30 seconds... it sounded horrible and I gradually decided just to mix pads together. At this stage I was mixing psytrance. I did a fullon psy mix which worked really well progression wise a bit after that. I then went back to doing fast slow fast slow far too many times a mix. With Machines are tools I recently discovered oldschool Goa and decided that I'd start out with Psy and gradually mix into Goa. It worked really well and had good flow (albeit crap beatmatching or more to the point lack of due to the program I was using). I also got rid of my too many songs from one artist in a mix mindset. After that mix I tried a Goa mix which turned out really crap. After a one month break I bought Traktor 3 and decided to have another shot at things. At the same time I was contacted by Trancechannel (well I said I was interested in a radio show) who accepted me as their DJ. I Mixed this mix the first time round and the beatmatching was alright (some trainwrecking and no change of tempo)... I then made my second week's show (which due to Drew dissapearing hasn't been aired yet). The day before this was due to be aired I decided to redo the beatmatching and thats what's linked above. The day before the second week was due to be aired I redided the beatmatching as well (that was friday... it's now tuesday). I'm currently pondering on what to do for the third week. I recently got mixed in key and I'm going to think about harmonic mixing for future stuff (although It appears I did it accidentally anyway) Next weeks show is slightly more oldschool. I'm defenitly going to keep doing the out of place mood setter at the start thing though. It worked really well in this mix. Suffice to say expect more quality mixes like this in the future BTW if your wondering I'm 14 years old and I've been converting all my house friends into Goa/Psy trance addicts. What? thats a very story!! and so good for a 14 years old guy! how u got to know goa trance ? and especially the good old ones? i thoght you were an oldschooler! ehehe i mean i started in 1998 and even uf u just started seems u can pick emotional tracks! way to go! acid trance is stuff made between 1990-1994 mostly appeared only on vinyls and quite forgotten... i imagined that u were refering to that with old stuff and that maybe u were mixing old vinyls Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I got into it again like 2 years ago.. bought GCC and decided that I didn't like it that much anymore. A year ago I listened to the CDs and was into it again and I was speaking to a guy on Eve online about Trance... he said he found the mainstream trance stuff boring and repetitive (I agree now but not at the time) and he gave me a list of artists... which the only one I bothered to remember was IM. I ended up getting their discogrophy and listening to it lots and loving it. I got bored if it again and decided to listen to the GCC cds. I listened to the IM stuff... and decided to look for stuff similar after that. From that I got some good psytrance cds and eventually found out about the older Goa Trance style. Darkarbiter Posted September 7, 2007 Author Share Posted September 7, 2007 IIRC Flute flute only goes for 2 minutes... cosmic ascension goes for 9 minutes though and I think that had like one verse of flute after the break near the end... BTW I'm really happy atm because my net radio show directer came back. I'll be able to release next weeks one tonight after it's been aired. I assure you it's much better quality then Aliens from the future. (Order of production was Welcome to Goa, A Psychedelic moon rising and then Aliens from the future... not that I'm getting worse... that was an experimental mix that's all). I'll take what I've learned from you guys and improve for next week. I'm defenitly going to use the fader more that's for sure. Like I dunno about you guys but every time you can be anything came in in "Aliens from the future" I got a bit of a fright... that can't be a good thing. Currently I have no surviving copies of the original (well maybe if I looked really hard I could find it on CD somewhere...) but anyway... as I did with week two I'm gonna redo the mixing for this (obviously using the original tracklist and BPM/mixing notes).
