This one looks like some type of plant-like material covering on of those killer balls in the old movie Phantasm. Remember that one? The colors are a vibrant green predominantly, but it always catches my eye. I see an appealing cover and bam! The Cd is already in my apartment. This label has brought us such gems as Cosmosissss latest, The Atari.sss album (smasher) and Blisssss Rhythmus Gene. I cant wait to hear this one as it will be used as therapy. You see, the NY Giants just got manhandled by the Packers and I need a pick me up. Man our defense sucks. Lets get to it! Cosmosis Kind Weird Remix 2007- This is a remake of their own track from the Intergalactic album. Right around the 250 mark I get licked by the tongue of goa and the track bounces along. This is full on all the way but its pretty cool. Not a lot of variation but a good start. Nice track! Anti-Gravity Auricular Delight- Ivan Vargas from Mexico here with a thumper. Aggressive, metallic sharp-edged leads. DO NOT listen to this if you have a headache. The whole track is very loud with a pounding kick and bass line. The break allows the track to gather strength (like it needed it!), and its not until the end that any sort of melody makes its presence felt. Wow, this will probably kill on the dance floor with the power it brings. Good track! Bliss vs. Painkiller Dwarf Hunting- You know there is this thing at bars called the dwarf toss? Its where you see how far you can throw a midget. I guess you have to hunt them, cause I imagine they wouldnt come willingly to you. There is an eerie melody at 3 minutes as some acid attempts to mount the walls of your mind. There is talk of Goblin Patrols but I didnt see any. The repetition of the sample is a little annoying and the multiple buildups dont thrill me, but overall not a bad track. Powerful with some good leads. Tactical Strike vs. V-Storm Electron Counter Balance (Interactive Rmx)- If I reverse the polarity of the electron counter balance I have no idea what that means. We have a slowed up sample and then right into the full on mix. This is a short track that gets a little funky midway through but only for a short time. Im guessing Mr. Interactive was a little short on ideas due to the length of the track as well as its blandness. Average. Sirius Isness Shoot- These two seem to be everywhere. While I havent heard their latest album, I have liked a lot of the tracks they have supplied. This one has some nice leads weaving around a thumping bass line. Insanity begins after the break and they come with the powerrrr! The chopped up choir sample is a nice touch, Gem of the album so far! Great track! :posford: Painkiller Barcode- I love one word titles and barcode reminds me of Bruce Willis in 12 Monkeys. Brad Pitt was great as a loon in that one. 5 thousand dollars? 5 thousand dollars? Anyway, this one begins with a rich bass line and mellow pads. The leads turn crazy, the acid joins in and we have ourselves a real toe-tapper! Good track! Subtance What Are You Into?- You dont want to know what Im into tough guy. This one starts off with some cool video game sounds. Remember when you had to go to an arcade to play video games? The bass is deep and the lead is smooth. There are various psy sounds that keep this track interesting and turns this into one hell of a track. The ending melody is great as this track bristles with power. Great track! :posford: 220V Give Me Some More-The second half of this comp has really raised the bar. Discogs tells me that this is Tactical Strike, and they bring cool leads to the party. They flitter about, and there is a shimmering synth that floats high above the one note bass line. The melody is eerie, and the synth lines seem to have a jumpy quality. Good track that had me moving! Cycle Sphere Time For Base- Now Dui Bitton hits me with a synthesized voice right out of the gate. Now, he doesnt know I dont like that, so he can be forgiven. But this track is replete with things I dont like. Repetitive house-like samples, a house-like tapping rhythm, and stops and starts. I dont like my music asking me questions or telling me what to do. If I wanted that, I would go to my wife. Oh and that wailing voice in the background made me leave the apartment and kick a few cats. I think Homer said it best when he said, This is the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked. How the hell did this make it on the compilation? Not to mention the end. Ugh. Summary: After having reviewed numerous compilations that are all flash and no substance, I was ready for this one to follow right along. However, a funny thing happened in the middlefire made it good! This comp was like a Quiznos sandwich, with all the great meat in the middle; powerful beats, great synths, and catchy rhythms. Sure its full on, but I enjoyed all the tracks to some degree except the last one. Is this going to revolutionize the genre? Nah, you can still keep your Pleiadians discs. But, honestly, did you expect this to? This is good full on and I recommend it to all full-on fans. One of the better full on compilations I have heard lately. 7.5/10. By the way, NHL hockey season starts in 18 days! Hell yeah! MDK
