Tested Extension - Virginity TRACK BY TRACK: N.R.S vs Kode Six - Cluster Duster This fusion creation by Kode Six and NRS make for a rocker of an opener for this compilation. The bassline changes often enough to keep things interesting and sets a half dozen different tones throughout, with thick, wet sounding riffs and pads which really make you want to hold onto your butt. This one is a superb tone-setter for the rest of the album and ups the anticipation as well as the volume level. Rubix Qube - Exhale Alien, ethereal chatter and low frequency pad oscillations layer gaseously atop a low rumbling beat, while the rhythms rise up from the abyss below. "Exhale" certainly shocks the system into vigorous motion! Before this track is halfway done with you, the layers are piling as high as the energy level is rising... the synthwaves are flying fast and furious as this piece blossoms into a peak-hour neurotransmitter. Kode Six - Process Reset The beats and rhythms creep up on you like a night predator amidst a high-tide of electric pad waves. Low, rumbling synth riffs and a fleshy bassline provide the flooring for high ceilings of crisp percussion. This one is a journey, providing a main catchy current and building around and onto, then, after the well-timed breakdown, explodes its tension onto your ears like wet psychedelic spaghetti. Gerasene - Syllable Lottery "Syllable Lottery" is creepy and haunting from the outset, with a heavily tweaked intro, before suddenly launching into one of the grittiest, sinister trance beats out there! The bass us punchy and makes you dance right away as if by gunpoint. Evil synths with a touch of funky influence conspire to keep your body moving, and the addition and reduction of layers is suble and masterful with great tension and release. Zion Linguist - Dr Freakenstien Zion Linguist offers up yet another outstanding dosage of high-quality ear candy here! A thick, electro bass is the key behind all these great, yet highly unorthodox sounds, and the way it all works together shows testament to quality. From the hollow flutes to synthesized swamp creatures. Just what the doctor ordered. Frozen Ghost - Ghost Meat This fusion creation by Frozen Ghost makes for a rocker of a track. Full-on, uptempo madness greets you in the form of thumping basslines and maddening synth squirts, with delectably abstract percussion elements sprinkled throughout. This one is a superb track and ups the anticipation as well as the volume level. Hiyarant - Driven The only disappointment about this track is that it was born too late... "Driven" is a perfect summer outdoor acid thriller! Pitch bends and tempo adjustments skewer your neurons like fishhooks and whip you into dance-induced sweat frenzies. The synth work starts out menacing but before long evolve into relentless sound assaults powered by a diesel-fueled bassline, just the thing for trance floor antics. Scam - High in Disguise "High in Disguise" keeps things going. A powerful bassline provides a solid foundation for creepy pads and biomechanical loops of organic squelches. Contorted saw waves bite and snap at your knees and ankles like low frequency hellhounds. A vast and expansive breakdown only leads to an equally tense buildup, with the energy remaining high through to the last minute. Technodrome - Gate for Hate A bizarre, highly original intro offers only a moments preparation for the churning bass and hydraulic synth machinery to come. Excellent panorama applied to the echoed rhythms offer feelings of horizontal spaciousness even as the bass undertones throw you up and down. Indeed, the sound comes at you from all angles, even from behind, holding you hostage in its thrall. Tested Extension - Virginity "Virginity" is the audio equivalent of a psychedelic submarine ride under the sea. Pings and haunted melodies rise up from the abyss like audio hobgoblins. The bassline contorts and switches currents, changing the mood, while deliciously wet synth sounds slide through your senses and flip you upside down, around and back again before you can realize that it was all in your mind to begin with. "Virginity" keeps you tingly and vulnerable as if it were your first time again. We are looking for quality promoters, festivals, and production crews worldwide to host Dark Side CD Release events.
