Play real arpeggios

Fair enough... I've used them, but only after I've written the main lead. As for directions... Up, down, and the one that alternates... never random

I always wished my Yamaha W7 had an arp on it.

I have sequenced the basic 3-note arp before but I like the odd ones when you set then to latch and play different notes.

Haven't used an arp in ages, however and I sort of think of them as passé.

If I'm going for an arp'ed sound I generally tend to write mine own arps. If I think about it, I do often tend to use arpeggiators to "busy-fy" a lead I have already have clearly writing to function as a variation of the original. Unlike many I am also a fan of the random mode as I like to do little things to "break" patterns and keep the ear interested. Only rule I can really say is I use 'em if they sound right for the situation.

I always just create the arpeggio with the notes rather than an arpeggiator. I don't imagine any arpeggiator pattern written by some random person is going to be exactly what I want on a given song.

But if I were to play such a part live, I would need to create an arpeggiator pattern.
