I've been thinking about this alot lately. I think that in the future, Psynews.org should have Top 5 "best of" list for Psytrance, Downtempo, and Goatrance. I think that is a more fun way to go about this, because those three are the biggest genre's on this site. It's very hard to choose a best Goa album over a best Psy album, and even I feel crammed because of this. But I wrote nothing about it until now, here. This is something for the Psynews team to consider in the future. I've given it careful thought and I think it's realistic. I don't make up the rules here however. Having too many (sub)genre top lists however may get overdone.

That's not long enough. There was so much new releases last year, especially during the last 2-3 months, that no one who isn't downloading wasn't probably able to buy it all, not to mention listen and judge it properly. Give us some time, please!

 

I think you should expand it to 2 months.

 

If more people request it, we will expand the time.

I wouldn't mind the deadline being extended as there are plenty of 2007 releases I haven't listened to yet.

I would say Progressive is bigger than Goatrance, but whatever

You mean "bigger" as in "more releases" rather that "better quality" surely?

Seriously though, posting TOP-5 for sub-genres would be OK, but I'm affraid we'd be arguing couple of weeks what those sub genres actually are... I think voting TOP-10 would definitely be enough to fit in all your favourites (from all sub-genres) as opposed to just five, which is quite limiting IMO.
