yep I actually did :clapping: , It's a shame I haven't had the time to dive into Khooman - A flexible Liquid, that might have been on of the top 5 otherwise...

 

edit: and also I never said I disliked it, hmm yes I said it was boring and dull but I also stated that it was still a very decent ambient album. That was my initial thoughts on it. And even if it's not "GREAT" it's still one of the best for 2007.

E. updated again after i finally got my hands on solar fields earthshine. atm tis not quite as good as i expected, but definately in my top 5.

 

Hope its not too late to change my vote, after some more listens of some of the albums of 2007 I´ve changed my mind.

 

My list for psytrance now goes as follows:

 

1. Perfect Stranger- Changed (this album keeps getting better and better with every listen. I just love the electro/techno influences in some of the tracks, for me its a really exciting direction taken by the artists involved and i hope it gets furthered with future albums...)

2. Eat Static- Declassified

3. Ace Ventura- Rebirth (VERY tough decision between 2 and 3...)

4. Solar Fields- Earthshine

5. Prometheus- Corridor of Mirrors

6. Dimension 5- Transdimensional (feels rubbish to put such a good album as number 6 on my list, but as its a re-release i kind of only wanted new releases in my favourites this year. sorry D5!)

 

My chill list stays the same.

 

Also, I have yet to pick up solar fields earthshine, and I have a sneaky suspicion (judging by the samples, the reviews and solar fields´ previous efforts) that this one may well snatch first place. But not gonna get it til after feb, so i guess this list will have to do for now

It's not that big of a problem for me, as I will have to check all releases anyway, thanks to our fellows that post top5 containing albums that are not accepted (from other music genres, or released in other years than 2007, etc).

I tried to gather and remind myself everything I loved in 2007 by checking CDs, every album and compilation, checked my last.fm, reviews... everything I could. I was quite happy to rediscover some of the stuff I totally forgot of! I have to say a few words about chill, as you can see I don't really like compilations. Sundial Aeon was everything this year, a really great album that touches something inside of me. Also, I love dub again - got bored with it, thanks to Interchill for Liquid Stranger Sync24 is the album I listened most this year in my CD player, but it suits only a narrow field of moods and luckily I was in that mood for a looong time

 

Notice Sun Control Species. That's the last album of good psyprog, I'm pretty sure there will be no anymore. I'm a goa-freak, so Suntrip's releases don't any argumentation. Full on is something I can't listen to these days, only few albums, Trold and some of the suomi mafia sound more full on than people that call themselves "full on". Junk glow-stick sport-arena music generally.

 

Dark side devided to drug-head gabba bullshit and some deeper, mystical and pretty calm music. Parvati, as always, leads that field. There were literally hundreds of dark releases, but only 1-2 good tracks on each, so it's hard to name any particular release except "No Time No Space". Discovery of the year in that field - Atriohm and some other Macedonian guys, like Encephalopaticys, for example.

 

There are still about 15 psytrance albums I have to hear from 2007 and get into some I already have, but didn't have the time to fully appreciate. Anyway, you saw the results.

 

2007 was the year I discovered the world of minimal techno and dub techno - Pantha Du Prince, Aril Brikha, Efdemin, Deepchord's Echospace and Hawtin's M_nus Records are my favs. There's also some idmish stuff I listened to a lot, but I don't think mnml and idm should go to the list.
