Wow I just got windows media player 11 recently... and I didn't bother to check out the visualisation until yesterday! It's awesome... the old patterns get better and the new ones are just great. Anyone else just sit there and listen to downbeat and watch it like me?

It would be nice if they payed traktor for their beats counter though... wmp usually doesn't pay much attention.

HEY- win visualizations?? ?UGH- TRY G-FORCE the earlier versions had less compatiblility issues (i cant get the new one to work with itunes, but it works with winamp.

G-FORCE dominates. they finally did start selling a gold version, which could really be about one of the best visuals for a party because it can be routed to ANY audio input (meaning you could hook up a mic or line in to decks and have visuals that go with the music (on three levels)

i would say the main draws of G-FORCE are

1)constant color changes- no same color vis for hours

2) minimal repetition - there are about a hundred standard effects that combine in different ways to produce a constantly changing effect

some other cool factors are ability to increases number of things happening on the screen (depending on machine power)

being able to change the color scheme

the list goes on

i have a few other old vis proggys that are almost as cool, but none have ever really matched G-FORCE

it is very addicting, people tend to get caught up in staring at it when i have it on.

kata fx is a neat retro style vis if you can still find it anywhere, it was free but i think they took it off the market to use it for themselves at shows.

PS- if you enable "run multiple instances" with winamp, there is a plug in available which allows pitch/ tempo control, but as far as i know, no beat counter yet (but i haven't looked in awhile)

Well the acidwax screens look much nicer... tbh... blobs of gas forming random shapes doesn't really appeal to me. More travel less shape forming imo and damnit it is much nicer... but the adverts really piss me off. Can hardly properly evaluate it ffs... no keygens on google either.

i had tripex for winamp some time ago, which was pretty nice but got boring fast... electric sheep screensaver is also very nice but needs internet connection :( and is very buggy and runs prty unstable

and yeah now i just use wmp11 and those visualz suck pretty much... whats there to do about it..

write your own!!

I prefer Winamp's Milkdrop plugin, its has some amazing, trippy presets such as....

Rovostar - Tripmaker

Redi Jedi - Acid in Your Pants

Bmelgren - Acid Iris

E.O.S. - Glowsticks and Proton Lights (Recursive Mix)

Geiss - Cosmic Dust 1

Rovostar and Loadus - Active Sparks (Fractaldrop Remix)

Rovostar - Mosiac of the Ages

Shifter - Fractal Grinder

Valhalla - Happy Trip

and loads more.....

Yeah, MilkDrop all the way. There are some seriously wild and extremely, extremely complex visualizations in there. It runs very smooth at very high resolutions too.

G Force. better.

Ack! the newer milkdrop does look pretty darn good, wow. that's what i get for not looking in a few years.

pretty much the same as g force, but with newer graphics, very nice!

now i don't know what he newest g force looks like either, getting it now, but the full version isnt free.

g force if you want ot see their site, the full vers. is stand alone, extremely useful.

Yeah milkdrop just got to version 2 and has an all new engine, mindblowing effects even on the simple ones. Its one of the only visualizers to use your 3d graphics hardware, so thats one reason why its so smooth and complex.

there are a few.

g force does use 3d hardware

LAVA or Oozic or whatever the heck they call it now- kind of interesting. different 3d scenes that move around, some were cool some weren't. one that was kinda hokey in overall function but a very cool idea was cyberdiva, a six armed woman who danced and rotated to the music.

it was a Creative bundled proggy, i dunno what happened to its engine

I use PlasmaViz for Windows Media Player.

- that one looks great also

argh!

my stupid set up wont accept that latest version at all, but that is my backwards hardware.

i dunno, maybe they are slipping over there, i had to go back to version 2.7 to get it to work, but agian i have a weird video card/motherboard config.

the only thing i can think of is make sure the soundcard record settings (in wherever the controls for your soundcard are, could be one or two places) - are set to wav or everything and not mic or something like that

first of all , winamp is the best possible solution for playin music , not real player or specially win media player

my fav viz is DylansDynamicTexturedCube - its totally asome , look like these rare videos of 96 , pure goa

double post happend

there was lot of diffrent screensavers and viz plugins , g force , psychedelic screensaver etc

that one looks pretty cool. I have to admit after messing with the new Milkdrop, and having problems with the latest g force, Milkdrop has come a lonnnng way, and is now if not the equivalent, possibly better than g force. some difference in colors that would be a matter of opinion, but the overall function is so similar...

Milkdrop for the win. It wees on WMP11 from a great height and leaves it, not surprisingly, smelling of wee.

Milkdrop is just the best visualsation, not that it looks awesome and has thausands of presets, it is very easy to use and very stable.

I think it looks ace myself. At the end of a night whilst on mushrooms a few months ago I had it running through my PC to my 32inch hi-def widescreen TV and it captivated me for a good hour or two. Couldn't take my eyes off it.

I hope you were listening to psychedelic trance because other music doesn´t fit with this visualisation.

A little bit of oldschool goa but, as it was getting on towards the end of the night, mainly Shpongle and Shulman.

Farq. I just dled winamp. Plug and play perfects but the visualizer doesn't work

Any suggestions what I'm doing wrong

All I can think is you're trying to get the visualiser to run without playing an audio file - which it won't do.

  • 5 months later...

Massive necro but damn! Acid wax has been improved a ton since the date of this thread! Theres tons more visualisations and the colours choson are much better. I'm still really sad my humble e8400/8800gt combo can't run very high though.

I have an ambitous project idea...

1. Record my favourite goa tracks 4x slow

2. Set acidwax to 4x speed... set to very high and record the video results.

3. Speed up video 4x...

4. attemp to sync with song... very high looks awesome even at 10fps... imagine at 25!!! anyone suggest any programs for syncing?

5. (the most ambitous part) find a decent avi to something a little smaller converter so the upload to various sites doesn't take 12 hours.
