Somazoid
Sorry, I could not include all of them into one post because of the several embedded media files.
Agneton
Nice additions Somazoid! Actually there are just way too much new artists to mention...I guess/hope a lot of them will get proper releases too, sooner or later... The PequalNP track has some kind of Electrogothic atmosphere in the main melodies, hehe! Eeeevil! Great track in each case!

Agneton
Wow, that's a lot, Imba. Are all of those in your label thingy? Seems to be a mix of unreleased guys, UAF , sita (persistent aura) ezel ebed (zed reactor, boneva), phototropic (astreveta, nolax) and other labels
Imba
Yup, most are new or unreleased artists and also from many labels. I think labels should go and check tracks and guys. Some artist wants to release EPs on UAF and so far they are: Sky Technology, Liquid Mind, CoaGoa, Trinodia and Drunk Pharaoh. Hope there will be more and more artists, who knows

Imba
Yup he is good. New in goa but very nice style and good productions, sometimes reminds me on Cosmosis sometimes on Astral Projection
Ake
i was too lazy to read the whole thread carefully, so maybe i'm not the 1st one with this point: Why does the "goa sound" have to be necessarily melodic? there were several great artists in the 90s who produced goa trance that wasn't typically melodic, such as: Orichalcum & The Deviant Metal Spark Satori Nervasystem Man Of The Last 3rd Der Stern Von Afrika etc. and there are great artists today who produce more or less exactly that sound, such as: Shadow Fx Autonomech Grouch Bufo One Tasty Morsel etc. are these artists less "goa" than the artists of melodic new school goa? I think at first, Goa was just a term for the trance revolution in sound that was happening back then, but it has evolved in its meaning. Really now the term Goa is used in reference to all the very melodic masters of the past like Hallucinogen or Astral Projection, Etnica etc and to all the new producers bringing that sound back to the forefront like Ra, Filteria, E-Mantra, Alienapia etc. A lot of people would say that ShadowFx, Autonomech and OneTastyMorsel are mostly today's progressive (Zenon Prog anyway) and Orichalcum is mostly Psy and Metal Spark gets tagged with Psybreaks (and maybe first to do so) I guess what it boils down to is what you think is or is not Goa - which will be the subject of debate for all time. As for me - I tend to use the whole melodic thing as a way to organize my music library which basically uses Goa - Psytrance - Downtempo (and goa is all melodic, psytrance contains dark, progressive, suomi/freestyle, fullon, twilight & chillout is everything from beatless/drone to psybient etc) Hopefully this clears some air and if not, I'm sure the debate will rage on. Cheers
ariScotle
And Nervasystem btw, sounds more psy than goa to me (at least on Stardust from 1997) < listening now btw because you brought it up great little ep from them. Definitely has goa qualities, but like I said, the way the term has evolved, a lot of people I think would call this psy even though it is from the jewel of the goa era 1997. Anyway - I am now referring to the old school stuff as Goa, and the new school goa as Swog (second wave of goa) If you like the name, use it - spread it around. Peace and Love and Psychedelic Trance from the USA!
Elysium
Those who keep referring Goa trance to only containing melodic trance have a very limited knowledge about what Goa trance is/was all about. It's really a shame to see references always being directed at the same 10-15 melodic artists who get almost all the credit when reality is that there were so many other artists who deserve credit too. The usual 10-15 melodic old-school artists did not build the genre all by themselves.

The usual 10-15 melodic old-school artists did not build the genre all by themselves. I must agree on this with Elysium. However, I was a kid when the old school goa was booming across the globe, but as far as I am concerned, some non-melodic albums really influenced my production of new school goa. Just to mention a few old school releases: Bypass Unit - Dropz of Obscure Eclipses Tandu - Multimoods MFG - Project Genesis Shakta - Out of Sight Tristan - The Collaborator Or some tracks like Etnica - Resistance, Tim Schuldt - Something Weird, Cosmosis - Reality Check etc etc... All of these (and other tracks & releases) show that goa trance does not necessarily mean melodic
Agneton
Tandu - Multimoods This one has some really awesome melodies though!! I do agree on the "non melodic trance being classified as goa" debate, although I'm definetely in the melodic-camp myself.

Yeah, Tandu has a lot of nice melodies, but mostly the acid atmosphere prevails throughout the whole album. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE melodies but I also love good acid groove on it's own All I was saying is that goa trance needs both sides proportionally, and I guess that's what Elysium was trying to point out. At least, that's my opinion

It's really a shame to see references always being directed at the same 10-15 melodic artists who get almost all the credit when reality is that there were so many other artists who deserve credit too. The usual 10-15 melodic old-school artists did not build the genre all by themselves. You were part of that scene making music when it was all going down. As someone who was there and might have more knowledge of what Goa Trance was all about at the time would you mind listing those 15-20 artists who typically get the credit and then maybe just expanding a list of Goa Trance artists (as many as you like) that you really believe encapsulate the heart of Goa? I think it would be great for the community here to see a different perspective because I see the trend now as well all the SWOG (second wave of goa) artists or nearly all of them seem very pinned to remaking the melodic magic of the past. Don't get me wrong, I love great melodies, but I can see how "Goa" has more or less been reduced to melodic or its not goa. Last thing - can you name any new artists (meaning artists who made their debut after the great Goa era of the 90s) who might not be making melodic trance who you would consider "new school goa" ? Thanks for your time - great topic everyone - nice conversation b00m

I agree as well. And I am glad that there are swog artists making different sounds just a lot are doing some fairly standard melodic stuff (which is great too Really loving that new EP from Innerself and the Alienapia was a monster (horizon is one of my favs btw - nicely done)
