nord lead

Recommended Posts

I have a Nord Lead 2 not the new one 2x the original 2 and I recommend you buying the old one too

For a few reasons

First of all, altough the new lead 2x is updated with higher quality converters, it made it loose its sound characteristics, made it more sterile and not as agressive sounding as the old one, the sound is everything for me...

Secondly, the 2nd hand lead 2 is much cheaper to get, and is a sturdy va that can keep you company for a long time

It s one of those synths that the longer you spend time on it, the more rewarding it becomes

Its not hard to program, presonally I do not like tis filters response but for the rest its quite good

Its also one amazing synth that anytime I make a sound with it, it sits really well in a mix.

Virus is a whole other bag of tricks, I love my Virus B and its kind a of a jack of all trades synth and it really is well thought with all its modulaiton possibilities , fx if you like onboard fx, warm almost moogish filters, vast array of sounds, very logical layout, and even deeper than nl2... Look for second hand Virus B, they shouldnt be that much expensive, and they are really well.

Thats some interesting info! Thanx :)

I am about to write to Claiva for an enquiery about the Nord Modular. I am hoping for them to design a software edition of the Micro modular. Having recently upgraded to an Intel Mac, the editor of the Nord Mod is buggy and they have no plans of continuing developing the software. So I was thinking they should be able to make a software version of the Micro with only one voice. The computers of today should be able to deal with it.

Clavia do not support the NM1 so you'll have no luck asking for a software version, I guarantee it. Have you tried Nomad as an editor? It's third-party Java-based software for the NM1; check it out here.

Thanks, haven't tried it.

I don't see why they wouldn't consider porting the Micro Modular to software though. It'd be kind of like re-pressing a classic album only more l33t. But I suppose you are right. When mailing them regarding the editor issues, they simply suggested that I would buy a G2 :o

Anyway gonna look into Nomad, thank you for the tip!

Apart from the huge work in porting efficiently specialised DSP code to a standard OS, you'd be asking them to make their intellectual property effectively available for free, given the prevalence of pirated software in the music production scene. And besides all that, to Clavia, old products are dead products from what I can tell.

Whats wrong with Syncrosoft?

Since they have been able to make a demo out of the G2, porting the older and less sophisticated Micro Modular shouldn't be that hard. Taking in account multi-core (even dual-core) systems have entered the market after that demo was made, it should work pretty fine. But hey, what do I know about marketing.. It's merely a wish from my side since I know the synthesizer very well I would still like to take advantage of it. Oh, AND I would like to do so completely in a digital domain..

You're assuming they run on the same DSP platform, and that Clavia didnt feel the need to invest massive resources into making a demo version of a hugely complex and intellectually-demanding piece of hardware they knew they'd have huge problems selling otherwise... dunno; it's all speculation (perhaps you'll find answers on electromusic.com) but their decision makes sense to me. :)
