Guest Jaimz
NovaTekk have filed for bankruptcy. As reported on the KoxBox home page: http://www.koxbox.dk/news_info/n_i_pageframe_fs.html
Guest Mike D
That is kinda sad, as we will miss out on some great albums and compilations, but I was never a huge fan of this label, except for their earlier compilations. I was much more dissapointed at the loss of Flying Rhino than Novatekk.

Guest Spifer Jo
Oh no!!!! 3rd label down in such a short period. Keep going you MP3 BASTARDS, and you'll probably destroy all the psy scene.
Guest .:::EP
It has to be said that the owner of the label do have a history of closing down a label and run away with the money so he can avoid artist payment and tax payment but I also happen to know that they have been struggeling to sell CD's the last couple of years !! So of course it's not black and white.
Guest Hallucinogenious
Bravisimo ! Lets close down all the labels and download mp3s .. Can't you save some money and buy a faking cd... Guest Seb
There will be more sad stories this year if the sales continue to fall! Most labels work for free these days put when you loose on each release it's not that funny anymore!

Guest Mescalinium
it seems everyone´s so quick to blame the mp3 mafia. i´m not going to rule out entirely that this may be a factor, but i think it has more to do with classical economics, mainly supply and demand. Novatekk had a veritable army of labels and sub labels, and put out scores of releases. However, the company was clearly focused on the quantity rather than the quality of these releases. Just look in any record shop, and you´ll find lots of unbought copies of releases from Naja, MASH, GTN, Liquid Audio Soundz. Look on the psyshop or saikosounds sales pages, and you´ll find a similar assortment of lackluster releases from this mammoth consortium of labels. So was the mp3 mafia downloading all of these tracks, or had the general trance-buying public tired of the flood of singles from such disposable artists as Lando, D-fundation, Dragon Master, Dj Nitrogen, Tara Putra, etc. etc. ? Obviously, i lean towards the latter.
Guest joe
I have to agree.. what pushed those labels were big sale albums like x-dream: radio etc etc. Ramming 100000 compilation albums out the door, which most people dont buy now because you already have half the songs on there for one reason or another, wont buy the bread. Looking at the psy rack, theres a billion compilation albums. Before say, 2000, Every person i knew that was into psy had like 10-15 essential cds. Now peoples collections are just kinda a random assortment. I dont think there are good enough/publicized enough cds being put out. Theres no way you "mp3s cause all problems" folks can say that if hallucinogen put out a good new album, sales wouldnt go through the roof relative to the rest of the scene. Oh wait, it was called shpongle. Guess which label is doing fine?
Guest m
the only people Nova Tekk can blame are themselves... I stopped caring for Nova Tekk as soon as I found out they wouldn't release Chi-A.D.'s new album at the beginning of last year. Supposedly they wouldn't release it because "it wasn't commercial enough"...... Well, I guess with all the shit they put on the market, I'm not at all surprised Nova Tekk has kicked the bucket. This should be a lesson for other labels
Guest basi
not sad to see them go.. as stated, they were quantity-based, and from all the reports i've heard, had little respect for their stable of artists. and naturally, i was quite put off by their handling of CHI-A.D.'s album... 'too melodic' bah
Guest Ktrance
What happens with the music? I mean, a record label buy the rights for the numbers correct? Do the rights return to the musicmakers or? A friend of mine got signed by them 6-8 months ago, will the rights be returned to him or how do this work? -Ktrance Ps: forgive my ignorance but Im kinda curious
Guest joe
im not sure but its based alot on the contract.. if they simply close the label i think the label owner still has rights (unless the contract says no).. if he declares bankruptcy i think the bank then owns the rights. Dunno about german(?) law tho.
Guest WSTE_M
Yeah I think that all their Goa Head and other compilations were to blaim. Plus none of us have any information on how many units they made of each record, they might have made too many units of a poor selling artist, and few of a well selling artist. I mean, X-Dream : Irritant is not available from psyshop.com anymore for instance... Also there are a lot of other buisness factors... I dont think that mp3 can be blamed for this... W
Guest .:::EP
If a label sign for bankrupcy all rights do back to the artist / songwriter.... Thats international law.
Guest basi
But in Blue Room's case for example... they just stopped releasing, as opposed to declaring bankruptcy, so the rights remain with that company I guess?
Guest .:::EP
yes the rigth's remain with Blue Room as long as they are operating as a company.
Guest Mike D
I think it is a bit hasty to just blame mp3 downloaders. and you can have a massive psy collection just buyin the essential cd's mthat you like, I only buy from labels and groups that I love and still have a massive collection, it just depends on supply and deman as stated, I bought 2 compilations last year from Novatekk and was majorly disspaointed as they mainly had 2 to 3 good songs and the rest not so good (not bad either, but nothing special) Novatekk managed to rtelease some unreal goodies at thebeginning of the scnen, and probably played a big role in in development, but they will not be mised as much as Flying Rhino. ps who was the toher label to go under again??
