Guest trancer
I will try to explain this.. Last night I was chilling at home..looking at my cd collection..didn't know what to listen to..I grabbed Son Kite-Perspectives Of... (i got this for gift and really hated it) and said well i can listen to it..i am one of those that really loves melodies and can't stand with just a beat and a bassdrum...Anyway i've read som reviews about the track Hi-Fi Stomp Session..so i said let's give it a try...i put on some high volume and thought about something else..after some minutes i got hypnotized (I think i did)...and everything suddenly somehow made sense..i can't explain why i understood the music, but somehow i did...after listening to this album a while I grabed Etnica - Nitrox (I really love etnica but i didn't like track 1-4..the rest of the album is wonderfull)..Anyway all those tracks made sense too,but i didn't like it as much as Son Kite.. My problem is now that i don't now what i like about this minimal music (it doesn't matter of curse but i am curious). Somehow I get hypnotized, it has a very strange power..The music it self is very powerfull..I never thought i would like minimal...The other people that listens to minimal music, do you also get hypnotized? What is it that "lifts" you? I will always liove the melodic psycehdelic trance, the old pleaidans, transwave and so on, but i am starting to like minimal too =) PLUR PS: i am not using any drugs, i am just getting hyptonized in a very strange, feels almost like a gift or something... Guest dam10n
I think it's to do with the spaces between the sounds. Son Kite has EQ's changing all the time - the spaces between say the mid pad stabs and the hi hats is morphing as the tune progresses, and all the while stuff is being added and sounds themselves are changing subtley. Son Kite, Matenda and Atmos I think are best example of this - it's an acquired taste - sounds better the louder it gets.
Guest PsYoNic
yes minimal is not so bad...we need minimal as much as we need full on....there has to be a minimal dj to get the party started and make a nice build up to the full on stuff.......there are some pretty descent minimal tracks around i think and on a massive soundsystem it can blow your socks off!!..... imo cosma and pixel rule my minimal taste.... Guest JanUa
hèhè ... Ez Hi percussion can give you this drive when standing on the dancefloor ... add some rubber and organic noises and your ready to close your eyes ... hèhè )
Guest Setsuko
... progressive is the real trance imo .... the thing i like most about it is that they make something very repetitive but not boring (ok , some don't manage to do this) ... it's the repetitive groove which provides you for the trance state of the mind ... and you can create soundstructures with your mind while dancing on minimal psychedelic trance ... i also like full-on , but that is more energy ... nowadays i almost never listen to full-on .... i'm minimalized ☻
Guest JanUa
but what is progressive to you and what is minimal ... and what do you call the israAliens comp. 3 than ? ... ( ik kan u nie volgen setsuko, sorry hèhè ) to me progressive is like psycraft and minimal is like pixel israAliens is progressive ... not? ( hypnotising sounds, very psychedelic) hoihoi JanUa
Guest Setsuko
... JanUa , Israliens 3 is indeed progressive and i never said i thought it was bad ... it's just not my cup of tea ... to clubby imo and most tracks sound like some fillertunes to me ... ...and for me there isn't realy a big difference between minimal and progressive ... i'm more into Ticon , Magnetrixx , DJ Exanimo, Qlap , Fuzzion ... sorry if i disappoint you but hé , it's my taste ... maybe Israliens works for me on the dancefloor but not realy in my cd-player greetz ☻

Guest space monkey - 604
i never liked minimal up until half a year ago, then i also "got it" and nowadays i am quite sure that there is no minimal(exeptions are of course always there) When you listen closely it is not a minimal sound, it's just not a conventional sound. just as Goa isn't conventional amongst other styles of music, so is progressive to goa and also other music. (and goa to progressive) it's groovy, repetive, but still changing and the trick lies in the astonishing rythms, and little subtle sounds. Nowadays i am in love with both the old goa and the new psychedelic trance/progressive. but in the end to me it's all the same it's psychedlic to my ears and i am glad we have a scene for this wonderfull mindbending music that is open enough for new sounds, so keep open and try to understand the unconventional. . Guest Psymijis
minimal has nothing to do with progressive , progressive is a progresion of sounds making you euphoric until they explode very similar to Extasis for example cosma - find out and analog pussy - solipse technology

Guest pesito
minimal trance... some is progressive and some is not.... about the minimal hook... i find it very "amazing" when u r listening some minimal trance while u r doing a high concentration work (drawing 4xpl.) then u melt into an alternative natural state of mind and suddenly, very suddenly u cant believe what u r hearing.... Guest Mike D
I have just recently, like the last month, started to enjoy inmal and progressive, from Ticon to Wizzy Noise, and have even beguin to enjoy the Intatc Instinct album which I hated for months!! I fin that every music has it's own reason for being made, and it all depends on your mood, sometimes it takes me ages to choose what cd I wanna listend to, and sometimes I know exactly what I am lloking for, but in the end, enjoy all music now! Guest Macmanus
I think its horses for courses. At home, late at night (or whenever) I think the progressive styles have its place more than the boom boom party music. Then at the parties its great to have a variety of progress and stompers.... Guest psy604
some days I only listen to minimal like xv-kilist, refer decree, beat bizar,... And other days I like more the melodic and full-on stuff. But on a party I also think, like psyonic, that there has to be minimal first and than some real full-on killers!! When you first hear good minimal and you're in the mood (or hypnotised) and than hear some full-on stuff you really can get in higher spheres and freak out more than when you hear whole the night the same style. tbe
I also start to hear minimal psy with swedish stuff ! If you are a " only melodic lover" try first S-range and Matenda Then Ticon, Atmos and Vibrasphere Then Son kite and Tegma :-)
