Guest jonathan
nice one guys, good luck with this. Too bad I moved away from Chicago in September but I'll call a couple of friends of mine and tell them about this event. Have fun.
Otto Matta
Thanks for getting back to us, entity. I'll definitely be there (I'll send an email). I've heard DJ Warp a couple times at Metro. Fun stuff. Am looking forward to hearing Dan Efex for the first time. Jonathan - I'm outta here too, in April.
Guest jonathan
you shouldn't man. I miss the Windy City so bad since I left. It's gotta be the best city in America in my opinion. Chi-Town+Thriving Psytrance scene= Best city in the world?
Otto Matta
I gotta disagree, man. Chicago through my eyes: Too crowded Too cold for too long Too aggressive Too fast Too dirty Too uncosmopolitan/uninternational Too narrow-minded Too materialistic Too segregated Too angry Too corrupt Too flat Too many Starbucks Too much sprawl Too much crime Too corporate Too many homeless No nature No compassion and WAY too much House The good things: Lots of bars Lots of restaurants Lots of galleries Lots of opportunity Lots of history Lots of pride Lots of pretty girls Lots of jobs with good pay Lots of apartments Lots of museums (albeit mediochre ones) Great public transportation Can't think of anything else. Nah, dude, I'm getting out of here as fast as I possibly can. Headed to a place that has more to offer a guy in my stage in life. I can't wait to get the fuck out of this unenlightened shithole. I give it two middle fingers up.
Guest jonathan
well good luck man. I hope you find what you're looking for. I actually found people in Chicago to be quite friendly and not stuck up. It's also pretty cheap for what you get in return. The weather definetly isn't a plus. Not to mention the fact that I could drive 80 mph in the south side without any worries of getting pulled over, while any random black dude going 2 miles over the speed limit will immedietly be stopped and have 15 cops come for back up to strip search him and his car. That was pretty disgusting. One more thing that I think you left out: All the free events that the city puts on, for example the free movie at Grant Park every Tuesday night, Venitian night, the way the look for almost any excuse to put on a cool fireworks shows. Politically, I like how they just declared Chicago to be against the war with Iraq and how that guy (Ryan?) pardoned everyone on Death Row. I also felt pretty safe walking around by myself late at night in the sketchy parts of Hyde Park. Just need to remember to stay away from MLK and 35th street. Also don't forget about the great Blues clubs. Do yourself a favor and head over to this place before you leave Chicago The Checker Board Lounge (Tuesday nights are the best)
