Guest psy druid Posted February 18, 2003 Share Posted February 18, 2003 i know a thread has already been posted bellow but i had to emphasise it, tsunami was the shittist, WANK,FUCK,FUCK,WANK party i have ver been to. even though i m english i am living in baltimore at the moment an decided to go up to ny to see astral projection and parasense. here are soem easy to read bullit points to make sure people never go to tsunami again: 1. parasense didn't turn up 2. astral projection were shite (played eurphoria, and no it wasn't goa trance) 3. lots of gay people all over each other all over the dance floor, in your face 3. too many glow sticks, white gloves and 'ravers' 4. no decor 5. in a brand new modern club with oppressive security and people walking around cleaning the floor all night long 6. break dancing competitions on the dance floor 7. poor tunes. 8. it cost $32 to use an analogy, to a psy trancer this was the same as the stars and stripes being burnt in front of an american. please take my advice, and never go to a tsunami party. i heard this advice but did not listen. thanks Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I personally didn't feel oppressed by their presence, I could still dance when I wanted to, and I could find a place to sit down and chill afterwards. It was a bit cold, that's true, and the drinks were outrageously expensive, but hey, I came there expecting to be ripped off anyways.. I wanted to see Astral, and I thought their set was amazing. From what I could see from the second floor, the guy was really putting his heart into the set and that helped create a great vibe, in me and in most people on the dance floor. Even if many of them were gays and ravers. What's up with this elitist bullshit anyhow? People on this forum usually give me shit for not being PLUR enough, but at least I don't think that only a privileged few deserve to listen to this music. Fucking Crap! When your emphasis is melodic (Astral), you’re going to get ravers with glow sticks and break-dancers on E! Take it from me I live in LA and am forced to co-exist with these sorts of folk who come to parties for the E and not the music! They call themselves Sailormoon and Tigger the bouncy raver for christ sake! Don’t get me wrong I have their first albums on vinyl and loved their music for a while. I have nothing but respect for their contribution to all this but c'mon God is a dj is melodic over kill! If you like that sort of thing sorry to have shared my opinion but I like to think that we advance as a culture by moving on to new things, sounds etc. Part of who is to blame for shit like that is promoters who raid EVERY party on the planet with their flyers with only the interest of making 32 bucks off of anyone who wants to go! Oppressive security is another problem in itself! We are not playing Hip Hop or Drum and bass and aren’t packing guns into clubs because you "gotta be strapped"! Just this year at a local drum and bass party thrown in a shitty neighborhood someone was killed for bumping into another guy whose friends waited outside to shoot him in the face! These are parties where security is A NECESSITY! Well I hope you find the truth in the fact that a good party is'nt allways the one with a flyer the size of a billboard. I think Psy (Spy Trance has almost made it to the main stream (Universal Records FFS!!!!). Saw AP at a ChiChiMe party a few weeks back. A few months earlier I had told myslef that I wouldn't go to another ChiChiMe as the Stompers had been diluted to the extent that they may as well not have been there. EQ was full of foluro kiddies and hyped up munta's on E complete with cans of beer. After a few months of prety crappy parties (I think I had leaft everyone early) and a visa that is about to expire Idecide that I would check out one last ChiChiME. I was never really paying moner for AP. Sure I thought it would be nice to have a check mark next to one of the oldest acts but wasn't really fussed. But is was a Transient party and in spite of them being a bit cheesy/clubby these days - they have some good DJ's. Verdict - It was a fucking good party. Sure there were lots of twats there - but on the whole there were lots of up for it people there. Even the flouro crowd was really giving it. Some of the older flouro crowd were a bit more muted and appeared to be catching on to the real scene... AP were a bit fucked up - but I was expecting that esp after latest album. Old school Goa meets 148 BPM with a whole lot of cheese thrown in for good measure. Spent a fair bit of their set taking the piss with mates - cringing eveytime the cheesy melodies struck. We were in hysterics for a lot of it. Don't get me wrong - they are pretty good - AT WHAT THEY DO Just that what they do doesn't cut it these days IMHO Highlight was DJ Photon (Shangri-La-la) for sure. A full on stomping set. About as charging as it gets!! My vote for worst 'live' or DJ act EVER goes to Joti Sidhu / Psychaos. No matter how many times he re-brands I still know he is crap. Anyone else agree? I know some of these characters as well, I remember when I first came to LA I didnt find any psytrance parties, I went to the Masterdome....Uggh!!! anyway, I've been to a couple of Tsunami Parties and I always spend at least 80 bucks for a party that I didnt like.
