Ormion
Can you point me in the direction of some goa tracks that are similar to Ra and D5? Similar no. After all I never said that Ra is a copycat. He has his own style. But his albums smells like Goa from miles if you know what I mean. There's nothing non Goa-ish in this album. Once again, I'm not using the word stereotypical as abad thing. AP are sterotypical Goa too, but they're Gods. That\'s why I called it try-hard. Making chaos behind the main synth isn\'t not as good as making intelligible music behind the main synth. To what extent Pleiadians actually did this is debatable IMO, but I think most of these newschool artists are just throwing in chaotic layers to obfuscate their crappy music. And it just comes out of the speakers as noise to me for the most part. I believe that especially in Filteria case the chaos fits perfectly in his music and it's balanced so greatly that never annoys you. But do you know any other new schol artist that uses chaos? Relating this back to Ra & D5, there is never chaos in their music, it\'s always clearly defined and there\'s nothing just \"thrown in there\" for extra effect. That, and that their music is always really powerful and melodic (excluding some of D5\'s Second Phaze), seems to be the common divisor between Ra & D5 and their other subgroups. To be honest I don't count D5 or Ra as powerful music. Actually for me 9th for example is more a laid back kind of trance. And yes it works great for that. AFAIC tracks are supposed to have the same melodies. That doesn\'t mean they\'re boring if they use them properly and build them up and down and vary them. I view it more as a sign of weakness when melodies change drastically within the track -- it\'s like the artist didn\'t know what to do after a couple minutes so he just decided to switch to a new melody to try and save his track from being boring! Never claimed the opposite. It's just personal taste. And although I prefer twisted Goa I don't care that much if it's the same melody in the whole track as long this melody sounds exciting to my ears. Ra and D5 melodies are very well made, but forgetable for me. But at the end, is different tastes different ppl, right?
ophitoxaemia
Similar no. After all I never said that Ra is a copycat. He has his own style. But his albums smells like Goa from miles if you know what I mean. There\'s nothing non Goa-ish in this album. Once again, I\'m not using the word stereotypical as abad thing. AP are sterotypical Goa too, but they\'re Gods. STEREOTYPICAL means that it\'s common to the whole group. So Ra & D5 are \"goa trance\", hence they have the general features in common with all \"goa trance\" by definition, but beyond that you say you can\'t point me to any track that\'s similar to them, so they must be pretty unique within the genre. (There are hundreds of other artists...!) Therefore they are obviously not stereotypical. (I wish there were more tracks like them, so if you know of any don\'t hesitate to list them...!) POWERFUL means strong, forceful, in control, etc. Of all goa trance I\'ve heard, D5 & Ra have the largest build ups, most moving melodies and strongest atmosphere. They don\'t let up after 2 minutes and drift into a new little melody; they don\'t have a million different sounds going at once -- neither of which make a track powerful per say. So how about this... listen to, say, Ra - Astral Flight, Hunab Ku - Matrix, and Dimension 5 - Psychic Influence. Then please recommend me some more powerful tracks because I\'m always interested in these.... Back to these newschool releases there are a couple things I will say about them after just listening to some Khetzal, Filteria, Goasia, and Pandemonium!: 1) They are TRY-HARD. By this I mean they appear to be trying to maximize the number of sounds in their mediocre track, rather than arranging what they have into something great. More sounds doesn\'t make their music more appealing, it just makes it wearisome and makes me shake my head. 2) They are UNCREATIVE. I don\'t think there\'s any original elements in their music? They even all sound the same to me, and they\'re recycling things that were creative 10 years ago. I wish these new artists would listen to some Chi-AD and try to follow Dave Young\'s example. Most of his tracks have really unique overall sounds to them, different atmospheres, and on top of that creative melodies and sounds. They are never loaded with sounds just for the sake of it. (I can\'t speak for his latest albums, but up to 2002 at least!) Top notch really. I\'m truly interested in whether they are capable of producing something good.... Ethereal is one newer group that I found pretty good. Most of their tracks weren\'t great overall, but they had a creative style and weren\'t trying too hard. (Cosmic Lobster rocks...!!) I also think Ra - 9th is pretty creative and much better than these other newschool releases, though it\'s of course not the greatest either. XpandoZ
I find myself agreeing with ophitoxaemia about new-school artists trying to hard. It's why I don't really like Filteria's Sky Input. I remember I was really thrilled when I heard it for the first time cause it sounded so wide and huge but I didn't really understand why everybody was comparing it to etnica/pleiadians and in the end I got bored of it. It just didn't have that same "feeling" for me. Hard to explain. Etnica's tunes feel calm and fierce at the same time. They make my <3 bounce faster They simply know very well how to arrange tracks. It's not just the melodies.. it's the whole.. buildup.. tribal rhythm, robotic intensity... ok...god.. I really hope some "new" old material comes out soon (gogo draeke <33) /end crazedfanmode Heliopolis I liked a lot more cause most songs had a clearer structure (reflected, mind expansion, rotate to vibrate) and I still listen to that one once in a while. It has less songs where the melodies sound like random arpeggio's following eachother up. (melody #1, melody #2, melody #3 etc.) It's why I placed it on #3, probably tied with Khetzal - Corolle That said, I do think Filteria is an amazing producer and I really hope his third album will be a bit more "crisp and clear" for me
Oopie
That said, I do think Filteria is an amazing producer and I really hope his third album will be a bit more "crisp and clear" for me yeap. "birds lingua franca" was the highlight of (for me forgettable) opus iridium. I hope to see that kinda Filteria tracks on his 3rd.
Goa-Head
Like Ooopie says, Birds Lingua Franca (what does it mean?) is my favourite on Opus Iridium.
ophitoxaemia
Here are some noteworthy newschool samples in my opinion. ETHEREAL - Cosmic Lobster <2003> Comment: I like the start & end, the middle is OK, but it could be more interesting! SPACE VIBES SYSTEM - Astral Dance <2006> Comment: Great start! Could be slightly more interesting. RA - Time Current <2008> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3VK0cW9rdU I\'m wondering about Har-El\'s newer albums, but never heard them. rino
What is the word about here? Oh, why are Ra and D5 Shiva's desciples descending from heaven to teach mortal producers how to push buttons on their keyboards. Yawn. Next, please. N E wayz, my fave' Suntrip releases are Goasia and Khetzal. See? Was that so hard? I made an entire sentence in a goa trance related thread, and have not one used the terms "D5" and/or "Ra". Your turn, children.

Aspartic
Ah, my favorite label. This is an easy one (I have these discs): 1. E-Mantra - Arcana 2. Filteria - Daze Of Our Lives 3. VA - Energy Waves 4. Electrypnose - Sweet Sadness 5. Ra - 9th 6. Khetzal - Corolle 7. Filteria - Sky Input 8. VA - Apsara 9. Filteria - Heliopolis 10. Merr0w - Born Underwater May Suntrip be around forever!
johnb820
Favorite suntrip release? That would probably be E-Mantra - Arcana, followed closely by Ra - 9th and Energy Waves. Good times with good music.
Veracohr
These are the only ones I have: 1. Dimension 5 - Transdimensional 2. E-Mantra - Arcana 3. Various - Temple of Chaos 4. Merr0w - Born Underwater 5. RA - 9th 6. Various - Opus Iridium 7. Radical Distortion - Psychedelic Dreams 8. Filteria - Heliopolis But really it depends on my mood. If I want something harder, I'll go for Temple of Chaos, but if I want something softer I'll go for 9th. Sometimes I want strong melodies, so Arcana won't cut it, but other times that's exactly what I want.
mephistopheles
Khetzal - Corolle Ra - 9th Filteria - Daze of our lives or Sky input (haven't figured that out yet) About Goasia, I definitely prefer his latest album (not released by Suntrip, I know) above "From other spaces". I also haven't heard the Merrow, Energy Waves, Temple of Chaos and Electrypnose albums yet ....
Ajanta
This is my top 10 of albums I own. I don't own all albums, so it's hard for me to say what album is the best. I actually like all Suntrip releases except Radical Distortion - Psychedelic Dreams. 1. Khetzal - Corolle !!! 2. D5 - Transdimensional 3. E-Mantra - Arcana 4. Ra - 9th 5. Energy Waves 6. Merr0w - Born Underwater 7. Temple Of Chaos 8. Filteria - Daze of our lives 9. Opus Iridium 10. Afgin - Astral Experience

MrAnarchy
This thread needs to live! -- My favorites are: - Celestial Intelligence - Perpetual Energy - Denshi Danshi - Fluid Dynamics - Filteria - Daze Of Our Lives - Khetzal - Corolle - Morphic Resonance - The City Of Moons
Shpongled247
Ok! Filteria - Daze of our Lives The moment i heard Jannis step up his storytelling game as far as tracks go. It was a new level beyond his earlier stuff for me. Filteria - Lost in The Wild A huge continuation/progression from the above, blew me away and will for a long time. Shakta - Retroscape One of a handful of almost perfect albums imo. Filteria - Sky Input Changed my life in a way and really set me on the goa path crazy as that may sound. It was what made me dig deeper and deeper into old school goa. Celestial Intelligence - Perpetual Energy Raw as botulism and full to the brim with power it sounded fresh at first listen and for me still does today
Novoice
I have two favorites: - Crossing Mind: The Inner Shift - Celestial Intelligence: Perpetual Energy I wonder, why Celestial Intelligence is not often listed here, it is so powerfull! Richpa
Ra - 9th is by far my favorite release published so far.Arcana and Twist Dreams are two of the releases I really enjoy everytime I hear it.
Starkraver
Sky input and sometimes corolle.
Manuser
Not a huge fan of Suntrip (many filler tracks and albums according to my taste of course), but (without ranking them...) I'd like to mention : Ra - 9th... Ka-Sol - Fairytale, Mindsphere - Patience for heaven, and any uptempo E-Mantra (even though his sound could potentially reach higher skies )
Starkraver
Aah! I keep forgetting that Fairtytale isn't a schlab release.
acid-brain
Excluding releases like Transdimensional and Shakta - Retroscape, it's the following: Ra - 9th Afgin - Astral Experience (surprised not to see this mentioned more, I find it to be a very fun and psychedelic listen) Artifact303 - Back To Space Khetzal - Corolle VA - Twist Dreams (especially the Ra and Aerosis tracks) I feel like Daze Of Our Lives should be on here somewhere, it has many fantastic moments, but I really find it hard to listen to more than one Filteria track in a row, or even finish a single track for that matter...
