Guest aje
Hey Everyone! How is the new S-Range Album. I heard him play a lot of new stuff at the VooV last year, and i wasn't very impressed. Can anyone describe it or post a review, im short on money and im wondering if I should order it online, the samples are not enough and i can't download the tracks either since file sharing programs dont work on Macs. Thank you in advance, Aje

Guest aje
actually, i have made a conscious decision to not download stuff anymore, that's why i'm not upto date on what filesharing programs would work on mac. anyway, a descriptive review would be nice, thanks

Guest Setsuko
I got it already and i must say it's good ... not incredible awesome but really good . his style is more spacey and a bit more noisy layers compared to 2001. my favourite tracks are "the one" , "test tones" , "ilha bela" which is imo the best track and I also lick "star alliaz" ... the track space has some bad sounds in it .. reminds me of the overfiltered sounds deedrah used in a few tracks on Reload .. certainly not my style ... Guest Setsuko
oh yeah .. and a question to Dam10n ... what do you mean with feeling uncomfortable hearing the Closed Encounters sample in test tones ... i realy like that
khogg
Yeah, I've been wondering the same thing as aje. The samples don't sound very exciting, but it's hard to tell without hearing more of it.
Guest jonathan
Nothing special really. I am sure the world record for sci fi samples was broken while making this cd. the housy touches don't really work and neither do the GMS basslines on top of the Goa melodies. The sound quality is superb but other then that I can't really point out anything that makes this release different from anything else I've heard in the past. Try to give it a listen yourself somehow. You know how subjective these things can be.
khogg
Dam. That's a shame. I had high hopes for his second album.
Guest dam10n
yeah at th end of the day it is all subjective; he close encounters thing just made me cringe; sorry... seemed to be done in seriousness, not like cosmosis with the 2001 theme, know what I mean? there was a slew of records in the mid 90s, technoc and reactivate sor of choci stuff, that used the close enconters bit... and afraid they did it better :¬) but yeah it's all completely subjective which makes things like psyreviews a omplee fallacy and utter waste of time. don't tell anyone, but it's true. Guest daksinamurti
I think that the album is quite ok.as a dj a album is already good when you can use more than two tracks. But i think its also nice to listen at home.best tracks are :ten4,the one, test tunes and dimension jump. the album also had a good review in the mushroom magazine. Guest Setsuko
I see ... and agree Dam10n .. his project is quiet serieus , a bit snob too imo ... but I intent to like some tunes on it . and like Jonathan said about those GMS-like bass-structures ... at first listen I did not like it 100% but they don't sound that agressive. if you realy want something innovative and refreshing , you have to go for the Tegma album . Guest sviskon
would just like to say that I LOVE this album. I think it's super. Very positive.. one of the best albums this year for sure!
Guest kzi
goddamn stupid sci-fi samples... i love SF but the movies do it so horribly, and hearing them over and over just reminds me. stupid hollywood. using samples can turn a deep and spiritual song into an insubstantial vacuous superhit. yay. Guest aje
kzi, i would have to agree with your last statement there, some samples are ridculous, but i think the worst offenders are gms and the rest of that tip full-on crew. Cool samples are perplex samples that weird you out, like Beat Bizarre "Monochrome" : "The room is green, i wanna go back to the blue room". Those are the samples i like. As to whether I should order this album, i sstill haven't decided...
