Malevol3nt
Hey, I'm looking for some ambient-ish music but with alot of emotion to it, melodies are welcome (not just drone ambient music). I'm looking for stuff similar to Ulrich Schnauss. I've listened to CBL, solar fields, early william orbit.. not alot as I'm still fairly new to the ambient world, but Schnauss is where it's peaking for me right now so anything with that intensity is welcome. If you could recommend me something in that area I'd appreciate it! Abasio, I'm look at YOU!
p(sy)ayam
Ambient/IDM (like Schnauss): Secede - Tryshasla Kettel - My Dogan Subheim - Approach - dark and emotional Ambient: Ishq - Orchid Rena Jones - Driftwood Oxycanta Midnight Soul Dive Jikkenteki - The Long Walk Home CD1 - well, i'm not sure if this is categorized as ambient but it's very emotional

Well I'm not exactly sure if this is what you are looking for, it's nothing like Ulrich Schnauss, it's ambient with a lot of melody (piano, strings) & deep classical type emotion. Also it's free (click the link at the bottom) - The Nature Of Light - Shores Of Jupiter maybe a bit too droney but it's really nice Not much time at the moment but I'll think what else later, I second all of P(sy)ayam's recommendations though :clapping: (except Subheim - Approach as I've never heard it)
Rotwang
Also nothing like Schnauss, but really good melodic downtempo nonetheless: Khooman - Is a flexible liquid
Otto Matta
Definitely Kettel, like p(sy)ayam says. He's got lots of releases, and I've yet to hear anyone as consistently intriguing with melody in electronic music (although he did steal a lot of his stuff from Plaid, which is also very good, especially the first few albums before they got abstract). Also maybe try: M83 (like Schnauss but more angular) Four Tet Proem Arovane Casino Versus Japan Isan Loess Murcof n.Ln Higher Intelligence Agency Ochre Move D and Pete Namlook Boards of Canada And psy-wise, definitely check out Krusseldorf's album from last year. Top-notch.

If you could recommend me something in that area I'd appreciate it! Abasio, I'm look at YOU! word, schnauss is an absolutely wonderful producer. have you got all 3 of his albums? All top notch IMO. Saw him live this year at glade too and can definately recommend. Stuff that's along his lines? Hmmmm.... try maybe: Celtic Cross: Hicksville Caia: The Magic Dragon Alpha: Come from heaven (more trip hop than ambient but has the same blissed out summer style) Rena Jones: Driftwood (definately a must) BT- This Binary Universe (maybe a bit too glitchy for what you're after but brilliant nonetheless) Trentemoller: The last resort (for me, the cold winter version of shnauss' music) Long Range: Madness and me (phill hartnol from orbital's new project. Bit more dancy, but still very smooth and lovely in general) Mandalay: Solace (my favourite vocalist singing over blissful ambient soundscapes. A bit on the poppy side, but doesn't get much more emotionally involving than this. Check nicola hitchcock's solo album, passive aggressive if you enjoy, a bit more eclectic but beautiful nonetheless) And +1 to Otto's recommendations of fourt tet (rounds=wow), boards of canada (especially the new one, the campfire headphase), and ochre

Shaft
Second Kettel... even his more upbeat tunes have a strangely depressed/melancholic vibe to them. Much prefer it when he's doing soundscapes such as He's His Own Man or Halt Him. Loving Formless by Gridlock right now, although it's definitely more IDM it has some beautiful soundscapes and sonic experimentation. I'll second Proem if you like darker music, and Ochre as a complete opposite to Proem. Also try Lusine ICL - Language Barrier, it's very atmospheric. Astrognomix
Distant System - Spiral Empire is one of my favorite ambient albums of all time.. Asura - Life Squared is a killer one Phutureprimitive - Subconscious definitely is worth a listen as well, and of course the classic ambient album by The KLF - Chill Out... There are more that I can think of but these ones really stand out in my collection
