MattMan
First, I bought Biosphere - Autour De La Lune (Touch) and Biosphere - Dropsonde (Touch) I didn't like them at all. Then, I bought Biosphere - Substrata² (Touch) Which truly is one of the greatest albums I've ever heard. Now: Which other Biosphere albums should I try out, considering what is tasty and not? I really have no idea what to look for. Thanks
fosku
I would recommend Cirque and Shenzhou. And I guess you should believe me, I too don't like Autour De La Lune or Dropsonde

seraph
MICROGRAVITY ( 1991 ) Geir's first album and it sounds like early trance, not such crisp production but quality album and music anyways. PATASHNIK ( 1994 ) He slowed it down compared to Microgravity, but still remained trippy and atmospheric. Another quality album. SUBSTRATA ( 1997 ) Pure ambient, no trance, only soundscapes and atmospheres. Really nice and varied trips. INSOMNIA ( 1997 ) The soundtrack for a film, but so brilliant. Experimental, weird ambiental work, very filmic. CIRQUE ( 2000 ) Now this is diverse one. Ambient, funk, dub, breakbeat. Blended together into interesting concept. panda-hugger
as others have said patashnik and cirque would be good to get next Have a listen to the two albums jensen did with higher intelligence agency ~ Polar sequences and Birmingham frequencies. for some reason i've always preferred biosphere when he's collarborating with others. and the fires of ork project with pete namlook is classic. MattMan
I'm happy to say I've been too rash. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjCupxS-kSE Possibly the greatest Biosphere track I've heard. And it's from Dropsonde.
Otto Matta
I would recommend Cirque and Shenzhou. And I guess you should believe me, I too don't like Autour De La Lune or Dropsonde Agree about Shenzhou. Cirque for me was disappointing after Substrata, but still has its moments. Lueder
Hmmmmmmm, dropsonde is not my favority and even cirque is no his best release. my personal favorit from biosphere is definitly Biosphere - Autour De La Lune (Touch) Ok, the music is not so easy to understand and i even had to listen to it several times, before i was able to like this music! However, I recommend to listen this release very very loud on a very very good HiFi sound system (so if you play only MP3s and you have only cheap computer tweekers or other crap devices than you may be not able to understand the composition, because sounds and effects get lost). Its definitly a perfect soundtrack for a good trip!
Time_Trap
I think everything by Biosphere is equally superb, can't distinguish between his albums, all is top-notch material .

Mental Explorer
Substrata is definitely an outstanding, very unique album - still amazes me everytime I hear it.Autour de la lune is more a "drone experience"; very great & powerful in the right setting and mood (it helped me through a lot of night shifts during studies - use good headphones to enjoy the deeeeep basses :-))
Rotwang
I recently got a copy of Patashnik after meaning to for years, it's great. I haven't enjoyed his last few albums that much.

ulmehagen
Nice. I've been looking out for the 1st version ( http://www.discogs.com/Biosphere-Patashnik/release/856756) I think it has the prettiest Artwork of all (other represses)i have this edition: https://www.discogs.com/Biosphere-Patashnik/release/234007 this one is also very unique: https://www.discogs.com/Hia-Biosphere-Polar-Sequences/release/640(but cd and digital only) Recorded live in Tromsø, Northern Norway, October 95. 'Tromsø, 70 degrees north, in the Arctic region, in the middle of the most active northern lights zone. In summer time, land of the midnight sun. In winter, total darkness. In October 1995, as part of the annual Polar Music Festival, Geir Jenssen of Biosphere and Bobby Bird of The Higher Intelligence Agency, were commissioned by Nor Concerts to collaborate together on a musical project to take place in Geir's home town of Tromsø, Norway. The brief was for them to perform three concerts, using sounds sourced from the area as the basis of the music - the machinery of the local mountain cable lift, the snow, the ice etc… The performances from which this recording is taken, took place on top of a mountain above Tromsø, in a cabin reached by the cable car, in which the audience were transported up the mountain in turn.' also, the tracks he produced as Bleep (https://www.discogs.com/artist/5110-Bleep) were big hits at the beaches of goa in the late 80ies and early 90ies. acid-brain
My favourite album by Biosphere is Polar Sequences which he did with H.I.A. It's even more special than Substrata IMO. Absolutely beautiful. People who dig Biosphere should check out Irezumi.
