Gabber, Hardcore...

This thread is making me dig out my old Thunderdome compilations! I didn't listen to them for years lol

Found some of them on youtube, forgive the low sound quality.

Absolutely loving the second part of this track, if it was longer and more developed it would be such a killer!

In high quality and LOUD on a proper system, i find myself tripping like mad on those tracks.

Gabber is one of the most popular electronic music in the world, it sells more than Psy-trance as I explained above.

So whats your point? That because it sells good, it has to be killargh  And as actually Mr. Kryll points out, its dead, it does not exist anymore. Some forms of it does though, some retarded versions of it, which only IMO has made it worse haha.

Its cool you like it, I respect you for liking it... but for me its just music that I can not stand at ALL. And as I said, I have been and seen various parties in Holland and Germany, where it was full with chavs. Cool to know that some people (fluff and you) that are normal also dig this kind of music hehe.

I listened to hardcore as a kid. Nowadays I think it's awfully childish. The only decent tracks (meaning that they don't irritate me when I here them) I remember are these:

Mad-E-Fact - The Hustle

The Alternative Creators - The Beast

Dj Jappo - Sensation Of The Mind

OK scratch that, those were pretty crappy. Sorry, I guess it all sounds awful now...

well.. i said gabber died at about that point ( '98 - '00 )

Gabber was overrided by Trance/Hard House between 1998 and 2000 but made a comeback in 2002.

Same thing happened to Goa trance, after 1998 the scence winded, and we saw it on the up again after 2002 or so. The decline for both GABBER and Goa trance during 1998/9->2000/1 was due to the huge success that TRANCE made as from 1999 onwards (TIESTO/FERRY CORSTEN and other culprits)

GABBER is dead ?! Joke right ?

yes, nothing renewing happening overthere..

it's quite dead in my eyes (musically speaking ofcourse)

the gabber-scene still stands ... the bald heads, nike air maxes & tight jeans , freaking on hardcore beats..

One guy to the other on a party:

- Did you hear that kick?

- Fuck, thats such a good kick, and its fast! *boing boing boing*

- And there, that sound that Tiesto uses but this dude made it out of tune and scary sounding, its soooo cool!

- Yeah, fuck yeah, lets take some more meth!

- Hell yeah!

Of course, take it with a pinch of salt, I have similar view -even though I love the music- on the Electro House / Electro / Techno scene (Party goers that is). Here in Spain they are all coked up and stupid, well at least here in the north of Spain. The dj's are pretty much arrogant and wanna be rockstars. Stupid people in all scenes. Just seems that Gabber Heads are a bit out of the ordinary! :D

i really dont get that stigmatisation of hardcore lovers being al uptight and aggressive, taking amphetamines

but i hear it all the time :)

you hear it all the time, cause that is what it is like  Maaaaan, its like the psyscene is full of druggies as well... every electronic scene is in fact full with drugheads... and THOSE are the ones that give "us" a bad reputation :D

Believe it or not, but the first CDs i bought (back when i was 10 years old) were some Thunderdome hardcore compilations.

Haha, me too actually, back in 93 and 94, when I was really young, and it was fun. But I've overcome that music very soon, cause it is repetitive, at some stages boring, uninspiring and leads you nowhere. But it was a lot of fun when I was younger. I can't understand mature people making a religion out of it and even dressing peculiar for its happenings. I believe that you do need hell of a lot of drugs to get through the whole trip at the party, but it does nothing for me nowadays and can't even imagine myself doing drugs for that madness. :D

Used to listen to mainstream artists like DJ D, Art Of Fighters/Meccano Twins (really good producers, best mainstream there is imo), Dione etc. (not angerfist, I never really liked his songs)

Also, I loved D-Passion and the whole thirdmovement crew. I have all the demolition comps (industrialish hardcore).

Rarely listen to hardcore nowaydays.

Some songs I digged:

(Uploader is a goatrance lover!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G39uX3Wueic

I've noticed that a lot of gabberlisteners also like goa cause of the sound intensity and how hectic it can get sometimes.. that's how I see it anyway :P

Although I like the dark, hard and twisted side of electronic dance music I have to agree with Nemo that almost the 99% of the gabber I have listened sucks bg time.

The main reasons are:

-Too fast. I like fast bpms but not that fast. Of course there are slower gabber tracks as well, which I prefer the most.

-Too simple. In my ears they sound waaayyy too simple. Like tracks that can be written in half an hour maybe less.

-Horrible, HORRIBLE kicks! Awful distorted and noisy.

-They suppose to be dark, but most of them soubd childish. Now I do enjoy some childish music, but I don't like it when it's promoted as badass music.

IMO of course.

ahhh Fuck yeah, that's what I was talking about in my earlier post...Neuwerk and Nordcore crew made some of the

best HC I ever heard.

Neuwerk - Give Me Sharas is a fine example of their early work....sure beats the hell out of todays Dark Psy.

Thanks for posting that link.

More seriously i really don't get that kind of "music", hardcore i can understand to some extent.. but speedcore/extratone sounds just like noise to me.

horrible horrible music. the first track is 2 minutes 32 seconds, thats about how long it must have taken to make that track. Typical example of B R A I N D E A D music IMO.

ow lol :D

mistaken my own post to which u reacted hehe :)

well.. i still think those two are nice hardcore tracks, for that age :)

it's a bit of nobrainer music, true

but it works pretty nice on a dancefloor :)

*edit*

some more nice speedcore:
