Basilisk
Network (1976) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074958/ I'd give this dark comedy a 9/10... has anyone here seen it? There are some absolutely killer lines in this flick (many of which are recognizable from tracks released over the years).

Malevol3nt
When will modern horror makers realise that rock & hip hop are not scary music genres.Oh yeah I know what you mean. And not just that, but the obsession with darkness that is supossed to automatically make you feel scared. I've seen movies horror movies taking place in full daylight, and that's whats so scary about it. When you think about it, you never expect to be attacked during the middle of afternoon. But what if all of a sudden all people dissapeared, and you strated getting chased by some scary-ass creature. Now that's scary. And I've seen a few movies made like this, but I can hardly remember the titles right now. Made in the US I believe, still tho not alot more to come from the US. There's a bunch of japanese horror movies that feature daylight horror scenes don't they? I know I've seen a couple of trailers.

If you want a good horror movies then turn to Europe (France, Spain), Asia or independent american cinema.

MattMan
The Fall - watched after you guyses recommendation - And I loved it. What a movie.... This is absolutely 10/10. One of the very best movies I've seen in years, and I enjoyed it twice as much as Slumdog - which also was very good.

Daylight is so much creepier mainly because it's where you usually feel safe so when there is something wrong about the daylight it feels much scarier
exotic
3:10 to Yuma http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0381849/ A gripping tale of a poverty stricken farmer Dan who volunteers to transport murderer/ robber Wade to the 3:10 train to Yuma prison for $200. What ensues is a psychological battle between good and evil and the triumph of the former. Awesome acting all round; Christian Bale's character is intense and riveting while Russel Crowe's cool as a cucumber. If you're a fan of straight up shoot em ups and rough & tough characters with slight speech problems this is not to be missed. 8.5/
DaZeD
I watched some nice science fiction recently, most had something to do with how our future is being shaped. Dark City was very nice to see again. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118929/ 8.5/10 Nineteen Eighty Four, Very nice! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087803/ 9/10 Soilent Green, this one rocks! Most prophetic of all. http://www.imdb.com/find?s=all&q=soilent+green 10/10 THX 1138 also a pretty good sci-fi. 8/10 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0066434/ Taxidermia, ok, this one is really strange, sick, funny, and artistic at once, good stuff! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0410730/ 9/10 Body of Lies , not bad, made me think of the Kingdom. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0758774/ 8/10 Baat sin faan dim ji yan yuk cha siu baau aka Bunman-The Untold Story., This one has some pretty sick scenes imo, it's supposed to be based on real events, I'm not going into detail, but I guess it's worth watching if you like horror combined with comedy, it has some pretty shocking scenes in it, but because of the comical approach it's not that hard to handle afterall. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103743/ 8.5/10 Sorry for not going into detail, I'm pretty tired at the moment.. DaZeD
Heh, no, I actually liked this one alot, especially because it's not just shocking, they could've made this much more shocking, but they didn't, it's too funny to shock you! If you like weird movies, maybe with a disturbing touch to it, then you really have to see Taxidermia if you have'nt allready, it's weird and disturbing, but quite funny too. On topic: I watched Kymatica, it's the sequel of Esotheric Agenda, it's a documentary in the style of Zeitgeist, I thought it was interesting enough. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6736722752013377089 Also watched Ross Kemp on Gangs recently, season 1, 2, and 3. Facinating documentaries about, you'll guess it, gangs. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0986110/ Also Riddles in Stone. A great documentary about Freemasonry and the occult patterns in the architecture of America's streets buildings and monuments.Very interesting docu! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1031274/
Ormion
Watchmen Not perfect, but probably the best adaptation someone could make of the highly complex comic book. And for one more time lol at the critics. 8/
jivamukti
Man on Wire - A documentary about a man with an insane, fantastic dream. The climax is absolutely incredible and the consequences all too human. And yes it's technically as good as they say. 9/10 Millennium Mambo - I've been meaning to watch Hsiao-hsien Hou's films for some time and this was my first. The film is fascinating but I grew very frustrated watching it because things kept going in circles. I know that's the point, but still... 7/

Guest antic
Max Payne Boring and crappy 4.5/10 Yeah, it took me 3 attempts to see it in its whole, because I was falling asleep all the time... 4.5/10 would indicate it's almost average, I'd say it's more like 2.5/
abasio
4.5/10 would be just below average in my ratings too. I recently saw Shutter an american remake of a Thai movie that I am sure was better but this one was pretty good in my book. The story is a bit cheesy, Spirit Photos where you can see the ghosts only in photos (or sometimes reflections) but it gets better as it unfolds and the I was quite moved in the end. The final image was one of the most haunting I have seen. 6/10 (Just above average, enjoyable)

Cars For second time. Not the best Pixar, but nothing less than great! A sequel is coming too! :posford: 8.5/10 Death Race Apart from the annoying fast editing and the hip hop moments in the soundtrack that was actually pretty entertaining. 7/
Basilisk
I just watched Down By Law. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090967/ Now, I am a big Jim Jarmusch fan. You have to understand that his movies don't always "make sense" but they certainly have a point. It is as much the journey as the destination, which isn't really much of one... his movies tend to fade out instead of sizzle, and is it disappointing? No. You watch for the experience, for the subtext, for the subtle feelings and slow pacing and arresting visuals. Remember when minimal was becoming big and we described that as paying more attention to the space between the notes than the notes themselves? That's Jarmusch. Try out one of his films sometime, you might like them.
exotic
The last house on the left. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0068833/ I was highly disappointed with this flick after all the hype around it. No real Horror or thriller at all, infact it was all boring thanks to bad acting , direction etc right from the beginning. Wes Craven definitely got better with time. Or maybe it was the cut version that I saw. Im sure the remake will be much better, even tho most of the time its never the case. 5/
