Musicoman
In another topic Sleep Night Music someone suggest me the Steve Roach/The Magnificent Void album and I really all in love with!! Then the thing about those innovator like Steve Roach,Robert Rich,Robert Fripp,Klaus Schulze,Brian Eno just to mentionned those one its the volume of the release they are producing... So I wonder if anybody knows what are the best album to have from those artists. I Know that its large question because its many other artist that mentionned in the list but its just to give youa brief idea of what I look for. Bahamut
I could make a huge list but instead I'll point you to some surveys of 'best ambient'.... http://atmoworks.ning.com/profiles/blogs/2...:BlogPost:10489 The outcome of these surveys is pretty good IMO. They were held among enthusiasts of the genre. Here's the 2006 survey: http://atmoworks.ning.com/notes/Ambient_List_Survey_2006 Another top list that's very good. It includes about 10 of my personal all-time favorites. http://www.echoes.org/Beyond-Ambient25.html This list would be a really good starting point to discover the classics. RTP
I think Bahamut's your best bet on this ... do what he says I got Klaus Schulze - "X", Tangerine Dream - both Phaedra & Quichotte, Jean Michel Jarre - both Oxygene & Equinoxe... not a spectacular collection, but I got them all dirt cheap on vinyl because I was digging through a few cartons at a record fair ... record fairs can be a good bet if you want old ambient vinyls and are not despised by the smell of cellars (they do all smell of cellar )... abasio
He might not be one of the original pioneers but Anthony Paul Kerby has pushed the genre forward well with a lot of very high quality releases under a few different aliases my favourite being The Circular Ruins
