JonCrow
This list has and will continue to be compiled from here and here. If you feel very strongly that an item on the list doesn't AT ALL belong on a psytrance forum in terms of genre, then state clearly in a post in this topic. If FIVE people vote an album off it will be removed. If a listing is excellent but is not specifically classified as "psy-whatever" (e.g. FSOL - Lifeforms, The Orb - U.F.Orb) please try your best to be forgiving. JISNEGRO
Well done Jon Crow, lets see how this topic embiggens ( I love that word from the Simpsons) with time and replies. I wil add for now: VA-Water, and if there is room for free albums as well, I would add Nature of Light - Shores of Jupiter and Ambientium - Fractal Philosophy

JonCrow
The older thread was getting a bit messy and difficult to keep track of so I thought I'd do this. All suggestions/additions/subtractions/edits/complaints/etc welcomed. Hopefully this is helpful to some. I have to go to work.

murphythecat
thanks a lot, i was using this list of the psychil best when i was going to sleep, but now, the list is done in one box!!! thanks, really helpful bwale, i agree with your choice but you dont love shpongle??? okay i have to mention my favorite compilation and of the best record psychill ive listen in my life: va: midnight soul dive http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/ale/ale1cd007.html its made by aleph zero, it feautures bluetech, rena jones, vataff project, omnimotion, hibernation, unnocupied, cord, elves, all BIG names, and its really really nice, better for me then any VA, apart from natural born chillers. anyways you have to tchek it out. i dont personally loves all of those artist, but its like they took the best song from vataff, or hibernation, or cord, and pu amazing relaxing song from the best, and did this, its a classic for me ill add Flexe - Programmable Love Songs Vol.

JonCrow
You missed Ocelot gem Do you mean "One"? Aye it is a gem and a worthy addition, was thinking of it today, was going to give it more time to settle before suggesting it. *List Updated*

bwhale
A combined list is actually pretty useless, similar to looking at the combined rating for a release on discogs. You have no idea who recommended what. Ratings are only useful if you know who liked what and how often you like the same things that that person likes. If the goal was just to list chillout releases indiscriminately I could print out my directory list of them (before I delete 3/4 because they aren't worth saving) as a starting point. MattMan
...which is the reason why giving huge lists like yours, bwhale, is useless. I have most of the releases on that list, but those I don't have I will check out now. Chances are they are great. Chances are, that list is anything but useless. but you already knew that, bwhale. "how often you like the same things that that person likes." I like that sentence. If the goal was just to list chillout releases indiscriminately Good thing that isn't the point. Damn tool. bwhale
Other stuff that's not as good, but still decent: Abakus - That Much Closer To The Sun Aes Dana - Season 5 Asura - Code Eternity Cardamar - Steam H.U.V.A. Network - Ephemeris Hol Baumann - Human Ishvara - Magik Square Of The Sun Kick Bong - Flower Power S. Zeilenga - In Media Res Ten Madison - Avenue Terra Nine - Strange Craft The Kumba Mela Experiment - East Of The River Ganges Xerxes - The Mirror Formula PS: I only actually listened to about 3/4 of the chillout music so far, so my list is not complete. Astrognomix
A couple additions... one obvious - Ott - Skylon ... and one not so obvious, The KLF - Chill Out ... probably one of the best ambient albums of all time, if you haven't heard it, I suggest getting it and listening while laying down Great list, BTW... this will keep me busy finding some new tunes

If the goal was just to list chillout releases indiscriminately I could print out my directory list of them (before I delete 3/4 because they aren't worth saving) as a starting point. These aren't chosen indiscriminately, they've been recommended by people on this forum. If you need to see who has suggested what, then go through the thread that I sourced this from, which I've linked to at the top of the list. Or go through this thread which I will also use for further additions. I won't just add things silently, entries must be publicly stated by a user. This list is not designed to be the end all of quality, it's just there. If you wish to use it you can, if you're unsure of an entry on it then get off your arse and listen to some samples. Copy and paste entries into google (or other search engine) and hunt around for detailed reviews or opinions from a wide variety of sources. Lists like these can be a useful starting point, but don't expect to be spoon fed.
bwhale
What are you even talking about? Half the stuff on the list isn't very good, and wouldn't be recommended by anyone who I take recommendations from, only some random person named it so you added it to your list. That's why a combined list is useless....
