Yard Hippie
Recently I've found that I quite like a lot of the breaks influenced music I come across but I know next to nothing about the genre... The start of this year I remember someone (Supergroover?) mentioning that psybreaks is where it's at for 2009 and I'm curious to check out some of the names but I can't find that thread now for the life of me. As I said I know nothing about breaks but I'm thinking that the best way to get into it would be to listen to some breaks-psy crossovers. Anyone have any suggestions? Laserflip
Don't know if that count as breaks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpXRT4fjG-4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQzgmDxpmOM

Yard Hippie
That Psycrowdelica track is exactly the sort of thing I'm looking for, notsomuch the Morphonix (it was cool, just not the style I'm after). I'm just really digging the way the music sends your brain reeling as it attempts to piece together those broken rhythms. The other suggestions will take a lil longer to look into obviously but please keep them coming, this is a whole new world for me I actually own Nagual sound experiment's invisible movements. I remember enjoying it but it's been a loooong time since I dug it out, perhaps I should go root.
damon
That Psycrowdelica track is exactly the sort of thing I'm looking for Sounds like a lot IDMish stuff a la Aphex Twin, Squarepusher or other Warp Rec./Rephelx artists imho (braindance rings a bell?). Nothing special psychedelic about it. Nice track though What about Orzels Machine - "Torque Is Cheap" ( http://www.myspace.com/trickmusicuk ) ? Nothing special psychedelic about it. Nice track though What about Orzels Machine - "Torque Is Cheap" ( http://www.myspace.com/trickmusicuk ) ? It felt psychedelic enough for me with the pops and squelches. I've been slowly delving into IDM too recently but I don't really know the rules of the genres yet. I quite enjoy some venetian snares etc from time to time but they do lack pie for me; hence why I was curious about any crossovers. I'm on my phone atm so can't check your link but as I said earlier any suggestions are well received. As for warp I bought 'artificial intelligence' recently and have really enjoyed it so I did intend to delve into their back catalogue anyhow so thanks for the spur. Isn't it interesting how changing tastes in one realm always seem to flow into the changes in another?

alleycat
Mr Rogers on Geomagnetic specifically makes psybreaks. He used to be a psytrance dj/producer and got into breaks I guess. He's from Grass Valley CA which is like an hour from me in Reno, so he's played at parties here for years. Not so much since he moved into the breaks scene though, those breaks people can be very, VERY elitist.... Anyway his stuff is good and wonky, groovy and smooth. He's got a mix of his own tracks on his Soundcloud; http://soundcloud.com/mr-rogers/muppetology-

ziptnf
Some of these recommendations didn't show up in my thread about psybreaks! http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php?/topic/58069-psydubpsysteppsybreaks/ And those recommendations and research inspired my latest mix: http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php?/topic/58422-ziptnf-broken-signal-psystepdubby-psybreaks/ Definitely try Audiovoid, and look for the new Wonk#ay release coming soon. VA - Temple of Science is good for chill psybreaks. http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/nmd/nmd1cd002.html
