FL-Studio PsyTrance Example

Recommended Posts

  • 2 weeks later...

Namaste,

Does anyone here use FL-Studio and could make a basic psytrance guideline track, to show how to make a phat bass-line and basic arrangement with a flp to download? B)

Hi Mate,

Mick here from Australia.

Been using Fruity's for a few years now and like to think i have some trinks.

What bassline synth are you using?

What version are you using?

What sort of line are you after?

Good Luck Mate. will watch this topic closely.

I encourage anyone elce to give him tips too.

Well testing and trying everything, though did try Alien303 the other day, want to use only FL-Studio... :)

So went testing SimSynth an 3x Oscillator...Yet then later realized that Sytrus can actually use just 1 operator and have 9 oscillators simultaneously playing to sound just as phat.

Want to prove to myself and others FL-studio contains all you need, to do most tasks and shouldn't be seen as a partial tool, as it did when it first came out. ;)

The bass-line style really wanting to achieve is the rolling one that has some form of delay to it, FL-delays found to add top frequencies.

Any examples of Psy Flp's are helpful and have found some good ones, yet more understanding helps. B)

making good basslines takes a while.. but of course there is people that can help and give you some pointers.

Important things to consider besides checking the very extensive isratrance bassline topics:

It shouldnt work any different for fl than for cubase for example except for the daw structure. The idea is the same.

- short attack with enough decay to let through the meat of the sound, very short release

- dont cut too much mid out of the basssound

- sidechain the bass to the kick

- distortion can fatten it up but don't overdo

- make sure kick and bass fit together.

- experiment with the lenght of your midi notes and with the placement and velocity to give it some funk

- don't make the bass sound too complex. Usually one or two oscs is enough. Dont phase/ chorus/ delay too much unless you use it as a send effect and cut off the lower part to make sure the bottom still sounds fat

Good luck!

theres fruity psy bassline tutorials on youtube.

Yeh watched most of them, they explain a basic pattern, yet miss delay and notation...

There is a sound within funky psy, that has numerous elements to it, one day will find how, yet also hoping someone else using FL has already done this.

So hopefully someone will upload a flp / zip, with just FL plug-ins as although writing, still on the search for a cool psy tune to analyze. B)
