Here are a few: Later Murcof, Johan Johansson and Max Richter.

 

If you want some more synthetic stuff, I highly recommend William Orbit's Pieces in a Modern Style (remakes of well-known classical pieces). In my opinion the only interesting thing he's done.

 

And then if you like that sort of thing [here it comes, my big bias], totally check out all of Isao Tomita's

, who did most of his important work just before Vangelis' time. He could cheese out at times, sort of like Jarre could, but his serious stuff (most of it) is amazing (I personally like all of it).

These are not great recommendations for what you want, but maybe you should check out Messaien's Tarangalila Symphony. It's powerful, trippy stuff, and it incorporates an Ondes-Martenot.

 

The only other thing I can think of is Stockhausen's concrete music.

I guess there are a few categories:

 

- Electronic music that uses pre-sampled orchestral/classical sounds

There's of course lots of stuff that does this.

But the only purely electronic album I know, that truly feels like a grand classical, melodic composition, is the new age album Constance Demby - Novus Magnificat from the mid 80s. It uses sampled sounds of classical instruments + synth sounds/fx.

 

- Electronic music combined with live recordings of orchestral elements. Or the other way around: Real orchestral music with some electronic elements.

Here I can only think of lots of movie soundtracks and maybe some game soundtracks.

And one Klaus Schulze album: X, second disc. And possibly a Vangelis album that isn't a soundtrack.

 

- Purely electronic/synth arrangements of existing classical music.

Wow, someone mentioned Venetian Snares and didn't mention Rossz Csillag Alatt Szuletett?

 

Breakcore mixed with Hungarian classical music. I believe it's all sampled, but with me most of the tracks strike a chord somewhere. Some people on discogs seem to really dislike it, but to me it's quite beautiful.
