Guest PK Posted May 5, 2003 Posted May 5, 2003 Hello Has anybody heard the new Ticon album yet?? How is it? Please compare it with other artists etc. Thanks! PK Quote
Insejn Posted May 5, 2003 Posted May 5, 2003 I've heard it. And since i don't like Ticons sound I don't like the album. I think you can compare it to previous Ticon releases. Yea, you can. I like the funky/slow tracks tho. Quote
Guest lumpi Posted May 6, 2003 Posted May 6, 2003 I also heard it and wasn't too impressed though I found their previous album quite nice. I'm sorry for that but imo it's both pretty boring and way too housy. Don't get me wrong, I like the DS sound but this one is just disappointing. Peace Quote
Guest Setsuko Posted May 6, 2003 Posted May 6, 2003 I'm still waiting to get aero in the mail .. all I can say is that some simple sounds is insane .. the track you can download from mpdqx website this weekend I heared it at a progressive psy party here in Belgium and that track is super catchy ... maybe aero is not for the homelisteners .. pretty sure it's dance-friendly like hell ... ofcourse for full-on addict this beauty isn't accesible ... Guest dam10n Posted May 6, 2003 Posted May 6, 2003 its subtle tickle-u-behind-the-ear gentle stuff Quote
Guest russ Posted May 6, 2003 Posted May 6, 2003 not all of it! there are some massive dancefloor stormers there too. one track towards the end sounds like an updated version of old x-dream. Quote
Basilisk Posted May 6, 2003 Posted May 6, 2003 Hear it at a party before you decide... thats what I'm waiting for at least... Quote
Guest aricz Posted May 6, 2003 Posted May 6, 2003 erm, Ticon - Aero is fucking brilliant! If you like percussion-based music with lots of details and crisp sound, yuuuuuuuuuummie! very nice basslines, wet&heavy bassdrums. Way better (sophisticated, intelligent) than their previous album (which i also liked alot). MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM Quote
Guest aje Posted May 8, 2003 Posted May 8, 2003 Noooooooo, I like the new album, but I think the first one is better. This one is well produced and all, but I always liked that floaty feeling of the first one and their singles. But artists have to change, and their new CD is definitely interesting. I think the first one was a 10/10, and this one is maybe 8/10. One thing is for sure, though. Son Kite is a lot better than they are these days, for a while I liked Ticon better, but Son Kite has developed their sound into a direction that I like a lot better than Ticon. Quote
Guest Setsuko Posted May 8, 2003 Posted May 8, 2003 indeed Aje ... after the sad release by Ticon on Digital Emission I was actually shocked ... the new album .. well , should be in the mail tomorow . man i'm curious ... anyway . Son Kite always has been my numero uno :-) Quote
Guest aje Posted May 8, 2003 Posted May 8, 2003 Yeah, I always really liked Son Kite, but when Ticon first came out Son Kite went into a really technoish phase that wasn't really up my alley and Ticon did all this floaty stuff. But when Son Kite came with their second LP, they were starting to surpass Ticon and nowdays I like them a lot more. Anyway, that's just my rambling about who is the better DS act. But, Aero is a lot better than the Digital Emission track, so don't worry. Quote
Guest preus Posted May 9, 2003 Posted May 9, 2003 @ aje try to put on Break Even with NDSA, really you shouldnt compare Minilogue and the boys, cause they go for a different energy in the tracks, like NDSA they got that fat fat drive, som really nice stabs, and great percussion, where minilogue goes for the more tribal percussion, slower tracks and a brighter sound Quote
