psybuyer Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 For me it is deep hypnotic tracks with slowly and intelligently evolving soundscapes, often with an edge of melancholy or darkness to it. I love the acid sound too, but only when it's used well. Quote
Drew05 Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 the relentless unending chug of kick and bass cascading ever onwards; with heavenly soaring melodies perched atop i fucking love it! Quote
Ormion Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 The power of kick and bass, with a sonic onslaught on top and a massive melody that makes you crazy. Then comes the climax and boom! Quote
UrAhArA Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 focus on each layer of the track & let them all dive into your ears without control. Quote
Sideffect... Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 the fact that it's so strong, that for some it has become inevitable... Quote

But of course I believe that a listener's perception of a song has little to do with the artist's intention. Quote

Dimension 5, Pleidians, Chi-AD, etc. Music that tries to be just happy is very superficial sounding crap, and some goa is that too. Quote

Yes, but there's a difference between emotional dynamic and melancholy or darkness. There's good psy that is melancholy or dark but as I said I've rarely heard goa that is either. To me, goa tends to be ecstatic. Not euphoric, but ecstatic. Then again, there's tons I haven't heard. Quote
qa2pir Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 The melodic style of: Hallucinogen Astral Projection Cosmosis Transwave Etnica Often inspired by italo disco and ethnic eastern music. Also I like powerful kicks and bass grooves. I rarely like meandering (as in lazy placeholder "soundscapes") and very much like sounds that dynamically interfere with each other to create something greater than the sum of parts. Quote
exotic Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 Its the best when im driving to work , working out in the gym or jogging. Mostly listen to hard South African style and tech trance these days. there is so much power attached to this music! viva la psychedelic Quote
Muerto Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 The weird sounds, the melodies, the bass, the tempo...pretty much sums it up. Yes. Quote
Tennant Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 The ridiculous energy, multiple layers building up and making your body move and stunning climaxes that send shivers up your spine. Pleiadians - Maia forever! Quote
karan129 Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 You mostly get twilight and full-on down here, so I haven't danced to Goa yet. I love the mad, ripping twi basslines and driving synths. Psy means I can totally let go Quote
Otto Matta Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 The aggression mainly, achieved with the escapist element of synthesis, and with, depending on what I'm listening to, a sufficient level of musicality and narrative to temporarily elevate my body and brain. Quote
