Guest kingdok
Three tracks on disc 2 of the Matrix Reloaded soundtrack. Tea House -- tribal percussion with some mild atmospherics Mona Lisa Overdrive -- Juno Reactor w/ orchestra and choir (waaay longer than it needs to be) Burly Brawl with Don Davis -- Masters of the Universe-ish track with orchestra & choir building in tempo overall assessment : Orchestra overkill!!! I like it, but it's overly movie-scoreish, if that's possible for something featured on a movie score. Discuss
Guest kingdok
Anotherthought : I generally don't listen to movie scores on their own, preferring them in the context of their respective movies. So this music probably works well for any one of The Matrix Reloaded's myraid action sequences, but it's a bit much for casual listening. Plus, the orchestral bits are so overpowering, it sounds like Ben Watkins feebly trying to climb out of Jon Williams' ass during orgasm. Guest Bahamut
What????? That Mona Lisa track is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!! Plenty of Juno Reactor elements in there if you ask me... effective melodies and really energetic! A perfectly excecuted mix between orchestral music and Juno Reactor's powerful sounds & (great!) percussion!!! I'm 101% sure I'm gonna have goosebumps when I hear pieces of this during the movie
Guest Bahamut
Man... other 'psy' producers could only dream of something like this!
Guest Sun Of a gun
Is the soundtrack already released ? 10x
Guest peaceful warrior
I agree completely with Bahamut. Mona Lisa Overdrive is awesome. A perfect mix of Juno Reactor style psytrance with orchestrated movie soundtrack music. Very nice indeed! I can't wait to hear it in the movie. Guest kingdok
Can't you hear the Hollywood though? It's so totally Hollywood. These tracks are like The Matrix franchise itself -- all glitz, no substance.
Guest Towelie
NP: Mona Lisa over drive I can imagine some fucking fast and cool chasing scene...cant wait for the movie
Guest Towelie
that orchestra reminds me too much of the old classical song "flight of the bumbelbee" thou
Guest spacemonkey
cant wait to see it, these movies make me feel like a little boy again, special effects, awesome action scenes and sci-fi, and on top of that juno reactor in the movie wohoo! Guest Tris
Hum... Nice to see artists from the psytrance scene having there share of Hollywod fame and money and producing in the same time what seems like good tracks if I believe you. But I found the first Matrix such a bad movie full of sci-fi clichés and deja-vu, I really don't expect a lot from a second one... Sorry for the fans arounds here.... Guest TjT
Mona Lisa Overdrive is indeed supposed to be during an incredible car chase, the likes of which have never been seen...
Guest peaceful warrior
All right kingdok and tris if you guys say so.... But if you guys have such good taste in sci-fi, why don't you give me the names of some sci-fi movies that you think are better? I haven't seen a sci-fi movie that you can't find some cliche's in if you are nit picking. Come on guys, lighten up! You can't tell me that there weren't some really cool ideas in the first Matrix movie. Well I think it really comes down to the fact that you guys feel special going against popular opinion. So many people think it is good, so you want to say it sucks. I see this attitude over and over again. Oh well, your loss.
Guest peaceful warrior
BTW you guys probably think that if a movie has glitz it therfore doesn't have substance. Now of course I can't say for sure, but it sure sounds like you guys think alot like some of the people I know and if you do, you might also confuse the fact of a movie not having glitz with it having substance. The matrix is a movie that has glitz and substance. Only someone with no substance in their head would think otherwise.
Guest Kiph T. Elephant
The Matrix is a good movie... not genious or anything, but good entertainment. At least the plot isn't one of those simple "aliens attack earth" scenarios. Of course there are some strange things about the Matrix such as, why did the machines even bother creating this world for humans. Couldn't they just take their energy without it? And of course the whole idea of taking energy from humans doesn't sound too efficient. You'd still need to feed them for example. Couldn't they have still used nuclear energy? How come the agents were so helpless in their own world? Why did the machines just flush Neo when he left the Matrix instead of killing him first (if they thought he was dead wouldn't they have used his body to feed the other humans?). Okay... this is already pretty off topic.
Guest perro andaluz
More off topic...... What I don't like about the Matrix and other digital movies like Star Wars is the fact that it's all done with people who stand infront of a dead green screen, there is nothing real whatsoever, therefore NO SUBSTANCE. In good sc-fi classics such as Blade Runner, everything is real and migical.
Guest Lair
The track tea room features a dude playing taikeri drums ( those big ass drums) I like the mona lisa overdrive, can't wait to see the movie
Guest Jose
Yes Blade Runner was probably the best sci fi movie. But I did like the Matrix also, great entertainment!
Guest Tris
To Peaceful Warrior... That true i don't really like the blosckbuster phenomenum. That is one point... But about Matrix, lots of people think it's a good and innovative movie. I don't. That's just my opinion, you know. I found the movie boring the one time I've seen it, and I say so. That's all. And I haven't found that much good ideas I haven't see or read somewhere else before. Then now, when they make part 2 of a movie, most of the time it's not as good as the first one. But maybe not this time... Good sci-fi movies ? My all-time favorite is 'Blade Runner'. Total Recall is quite good. Like the different 'Star Wars' episodes. Some of the 'Aliens'... And I haven't been to the movie for a while... Do you know we gonna have a Terminator 3 ? I quite liked 2 firts ones. But actually, I do prefer to read books. And I'm curious about this 'MonaLisa overdrive' track. 'MonaLisa overdrive' is a short story by William Gibbson. Read Gibbson, you will find where some of the Matrix ideas come from.... And to all of you who gonna go and watch the new Matrix, have a good time, guys ! I mean it.
Guest peaceful warrior
I do read William Gibson. I never said that all the ideas in the Matrix are unique, I merely said that every movie contains many ideas that have been done before. I liked the movies you mentioned but I don't think they are any more unique than the Matrix. Anyway, I am sure I will have a good time watching The Matrix Reloaded, too bad that you won't. Guest ironmonkey
To each their own but, to hear someone say that they enjoyed Terminator 2 but, find The Matrix derivative and boorish is beyond my comprehension. The Matrix owes more to Philip K. Dick than Gibson. Dick frequently played with the idea of what is reality and what comprises personal identity. Total Recall is from Philip K. Dick's short story "We Can Remember That For You Wholesale" and Blade Runner (as most sci-fi fans are aware of) is from PKD's novel "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep". So, to say that The Matrix lacks originality because its ideas have been expressed previously in other form but then to laud Blade Runner and Total Recall seems contradictory to me. I have seen Matrix Reloaded several times. Its good but, not great. I think The Matrix was better. It has a darker look and mood and was a tighter more cohesive movie in my opinion. Both suffer from some cliches but, not specifically sci-fi in nature, just those of bad movie making. Correcting those few instances (more in the second than the first) of stilted dialogue and weak plot devices would have made both movies much better. Terminator 3 is coming this summer and it looks worse than the second. Last petty bit of niggling: Mona Lisa Overdrive is a novel not a short story. I too hope that you find enjoyment in those things that you expect to and also those that you do not.
